The NHS Healthy Start scheme helps young families on low incomes to buy healthy food and milk.

Those more than 10 weeks pregnant, breastfeeding or those who have children under four and receive certain benefits, could be eligible for NHS Healthy Start. Once on the scheme, a prepaid card can be used to buy fruit, vegetables, pulses, milk and infant formula.

Parents can also access free Healthy Start vitamins. A pilot to distribute women’s vitamins and children’s vitamin drops is taking place from McMillan, Marfleet and Fenchurch Family Hubs in Hull.

Hull Foodbank Appeal – September Collection

Following the success of last September’s Hull Foodbank collection, we’re pleased to launch a second appeal this year.

From 1st to 12th September, donations can be made at:

Morrill Street Health Centre
Longhill Health Centre
Elliott Chappell

Sadly, demand for the Foodbank remains high, with many families across the city still depending on its support due to ongoing cost-of-living pressures.

We welcome any contributions during the collection period and will ensure all donations are delivered to the Foodbank on your behalf.

❗️NHS weight loss treatment update for patients.

From today, a new weight loss treatment called tirzepatide also known as Mounjaro® will start to be used by the NHS but it is not currently available via GP Practices in Humber and North Yorkshire.

Once fully available only those that meet certain criteria will be eligible to receive it - this will be based on Body Mass Index (BMI) and certain health conditions.

We know that managing weight can be incredibly challenging, and many people are asking about this treatment, after hearing about how effective it can be in helping with weight loss.

We appreciate that this might feel frustrating, especially when private options are being advertised. Until then, please do not contact your GP or Community Pharmacy (or any other NHS healthcare provider) to access this medicine as they are currently unable to prescribe this.

Missed GP appointments puts unnecessary strain on our services and prevents other patients from receiving timely care.

When appointments are missed, valuable time and resources are lost that could have been used to treat someone else in need.

One year ago today, we launched our Triage GP model with the aim of improving patient care, streamlining clinical workflows, and ensuring timely access to the right care.

Since then, it has supported thousands of patient journeys and made faster access to appointments a reality. Long gone are the days of queuing at 8am!
