Ever grabbed a protein bar 30 min before your workout and felt sick halfway through your session 🀒? This is WHY and what I do to avoid this:

For my afternoon and evening sessions, I want to be fuelled - but I don't want my food to make a reappearance on the gym floor πŸ˜…

Protein and fats take a long time to break down, which is why you don't want to eat full fat yoghurt, peanut butter, cheese, eggs, protein bars or meats close to hitting the gym (leave minimum 90min)

A piece of toast, a banana 🍌, apple or some cereal are great options if your blood sugars are low (they will be if you haven't eaten the last 4 hrs)

Try this next time and you won't flag halfway through your session because you skipped the snack or feel sicky from grabbing the wrong food πŸ˜‰

Crazy how much our cycle affects everything; not just your mood, but motivation, training, and the way we show up day to day 🧠

This chart is such a good reminder..

Early cycle? Sometimes less motivation, lower energy, and workouts feel tougher (and that’s okay!).

Around ovulation? Peak confidence, better performance, and you suddenly feel like you can lift a car πŸ˜‚πŸ’ͺ

Then the luteal phase rolls in and you might feel calmer but also a bit more sensitive, less motivated, or craving slower, kinder movement.

Our hormones aren’t working against us β€” they’re giving us a rhythm. Learning it just makes life make so much more sense ❀️

I happily give out this advise to women for free as it is basic, fundamental knowledge that our health care providers should be equipping us with πŸ‘Š

As we get to an age where our bodies change, how we look after it also needs adjusting πŸ’ž

Q - Can pregnant women take creatine?

A - Although positive results for fetus and mother, there sadly have only been studies on mice, sheep and rats so far

Q - Is it safe for women with endometriosis to take creatine?

A - No. Research shows that it can make the disease progress by supporting fibrosis, angiogenesis and growth of lesions

Q - How does menopause affect metabolism?

A - Our oestrogen levels drop in menopause, causing muscle loss and therefore lowering our metabolic rate - making weight gain common

Q - Why does running make you gain weight?

A - Running makes us hungry and we tend to over estimate how much energy we spend. It is not the running, but over eating as a result of tiredness that cause weight gain

Q - Why do you get period symptoms if you are on the mini pill?

A - Even with methods that prevent a bleed such as the mini pill, the hormonal fluctuations can trigger symptoms. These hormones are neuroactive (impacts brain & mood). The mini pill does not fully suppress ovulation, resulting in period symptoms
