Our service is all about helping you find your own way of stopping smoking up to a 12-week programme. Whether you want to stop smoking for your health, for your kids, to save money, or something else, you're more likely to succeed if you get support. With SmokeFree Hull, you get:

• Expert one-on-one support to find the best way to stop smoking for you
• Free stop smoking aids like nicotine patches, gum or Champix
• Someone to encourage and cheer you on. We offer support through face to face appointments, telephone support, video calls and our online webchat service for flexibility. All about how to protect your lungs in cold weather...

❔Is the cold weather bad for my lungs?
✨Cold air can constrict airways, irritate them (causing wheezing, coughing, breathlessness) and increase infection risk.

❔How can I look after my lungs in the cold?
🌳In the outdoors, breathe through your nose, use a scarf or mask, and carry any medication with you that you need.
🏠Indoors, drink hot drinks, use blankets/hot water bottles, avoid sitting still too long, and eat hot meals.

Smoking hugely increases your chances of getting mouth cancer, so if you smoke to***co, it is important that you regularly check your mouth for these signs:

🔴 Changes in swelling or moles to the face

🩺 Swelling under your jaw or on either side of your neck

🩹 Lumps, bumps, sores, or changes in texture on the inside of your lips

❔Changes in texture or shape to your gums

🤕 Ulcers, colour changes or lumps inside your mouth or tongue

SAD = a type of depression with a seasonal pattern. It’s often linked to winter, but can happen in other seasons too. If your low mood reliably returns at the same season each year, with pattern, severity, and impact, it could SAD. 💔

Symptoms vary by person and season, but may include:

⏳ Persistent low mood

💤 Low energy / fatigue

💭 Social withdrawal

🧸 Feeling sad, anxious, guilty, or hopeless

SAD is more than just “feeling a bit low in winter” — it can significantly impact daily life. And, just because many people are aware of winter SAD, doesn’t mean they understand its severity or complexity.

Remember the signs and symptoms of lung cancer are:

🩺A persistent cough
🩸Coughing up blood
💨Persistent breathlessness
💤 Unexplained tiredness and weight loss
💥 An ache or pain when breathing or coughing

If you are between the ages of 55 and 75 and have ever smoked, get a lung cancer screening.
