Glycerol is often used to create the slush effect. But in high quantities, especially to children under five, glycerol can cause shock, hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) and loss of consciousness.

That’s why slushies with glycerol are not recommended for children under five.

Today is National Lollipop Day. But did you know that just like whole grapes the colourful treats can be a serious choking hazard?

The hard sweet, which is the perfect size and shape to completely block a small child’s airway, can come off the stick and block a child’s airway. This happens silently and if you’re not watching you might not even notice.

Please think twice before giving a lollipop to a young child.

These reusable water balloons contain high-strength magnets which pop out easily.

High-strength magnets like these can rip through a child’s gut if swallowed, causing very serious and even life-threatening injuries.

If you have this product, please stop using it straight away and keep out of reach of small children.

Visit our magnet safety hub to learn more about the risks and what you can do to keep children safe: https://capt.org.uk/magnet-safety/

A gran is warning other families about the dangers of slush ice drinks after her 2-year-old granddaughter was hospitalised after drinking one.

Slushies contain glycerol to prevent the liquid freezing solid. In high quantities, especially to children under five, glycerol can cause shock, hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) and loss of consciousness.

Please do not give slushies to children under five. And, limit older children to just one slush.
