🎶 A Musical Morning at Kington Court! 🎶

We were delighted to welcome Peter Collins, lead singer of The Di**le Danglers, for a very special visit! Peter performed classics from the band’s vinyl album recorded over 40 years ago, including “Ten Guitars” and “This Land Is Your Land”, shared stories from their gigging days, recited poems, and even treated us to a harmonica performance! 🎤✨

Peter, who is the brother-in-law of one of our residents, visits us every week, and we are so grateful for the happiness he brings. 💛

🌷 Flower Arranging Afternoon at Kington Court 🌷

With the weather wet and windy outside, Jack our gardener brought a little sunshine indoors! He spent the afternoon with some of our residents creating beautiful flower arrangements, each designing their own unique vase display.

The ladies enjoyed chatting, sharing stories of their gardens from years gone by, and taking their time to craft something special. Their lovely arrangements are now proudly placed around the communal areas of the home for everyone to enjoy. 💐✨

🌺 Remembrance Day 2025 at Kington Court 🌺

Residents and staff gathered together in the lounge to observe a Two Minute Silence on Armistice Day.
“At the eleventh hour, on the eleventh day, of the eleventh month – we will remember them.” ❤️

Our Maintenance Operative, Darren, created a breathtaking Remembrance display and proudly wore his beret and medals. He also shared stories with fellow residents who have served in the armed forces — a truly special moment of reflection and camaraderie.

Resident John, who served in the RAF, spoke about his time stationed in several countries, including Myanmar (Burma), offering a heartfelt glimpse into his experiences.

We are honoured to remember and celebrate all those who have served, and to share these meaningful moments together. 🌹

Back by popular demand, our Gentlemen’s Club Bowls Game made a fantastic return this week — and what a great afternoon it was! The competitive spirit was alive and well as the gentlemen went head-to-head, showing off their skills and friendly rivalry. 🏆

One of our residents proudly shared stories of his many bowling trophies from his local club — which are proudly displayed in his room! 🏅

🎉 Prize Bingo Returns to Kington Court! 🎉

There were big smiles all around as Prize Bingo made its much-loved return to Kington Court! Always a favourite on our activity planner, this classic game brought everyone together for an afternoon of fun and friendly competition.

The lounge was full of laughter and excitement, and the atmosphere was electric as three lucky residents shared first prize! 🏆

Many of our residents have wonderful memories of playing bingo over the years, and it’s lovely to see how this simple game continues to create such joy and connection. 💖

Beyond the fun, bingo offers great wellbeing benefits too — helping to boost memory, concentration, and coordination, while encouraging social interaction and reducing stress.

🍺🎶 Oktoberfest Comes to Kington Court! 🎶🍺
What an incredible time we had celebrating Oktoberfest here at Kington Court! Residents, relatives, and staff all joined in the fun — enjoying music, laughter, and plenty of delicious treats.

🎵 Resident favourite Banjo Brian provided wonderful live entertainment, performing classics like “Run Rabbit Run,” “The White Cliffs of Dover,” “A Lovely Bunch of Coconuts,” “Don’t Dilly Dally on the Way,” and “Show Me the Way to Go Home.” Everyone joined in with bells and tambourines, filling the room with joy and song!

🥨 Guests enjoyed traditional Oktoberfest refreshments — soft pretzels, bratwurst sausages, smoked cheese, and non-alcoholic Heineken beer or root soft drinks — all kindly supplied free of charge by our food supplier, Brakes. Thank you so much for your generosity!

🎉 The atmosphere was fantastic, with Bavarian hats, blue and white bunting, themed table settings, and even a wooden bar and bratwurst servery handcrafted by Darren.

And for the highlight of the day — Brian (Head Housekeeper) and Darren (Maintenance Operative) dressed up as Bavarian barmaids, bringing plenty of smiles and laughter to everyone’s faces! 😄💙

Our residents come together in the day room to read, share, and enjoy a variety of books from our bookshelf.
Today, we were delighted to see Ken, who usually prefers to spend time in his room, join in and really enjoy the session!

Residents also treat themselves to a hot or cold drink of choice, along with a tasty snack — cakes, biscuits, fruit, or yoghurts — making it a cozy and welcoming morning. 🍰🥛

🎶✨ A Delightful Evening with Titley Ladies Choir at Kington Court! ✨🎶

Our residents were treated to a wonderful evening performance by the Titley Ladies Choir in the Media Lounge, singing favourites like Shallow, Falling in Love, and All of Me. 🥰

Everyone listened attentively, sang and clapped along, with smiles all around the room. The evening ended perfectly with refreshments of tea, coffee, and a delicious selection of cupcakes and cakes lovingly prepared by our Chef Debbie. ☕🧁

It was a heartwarming night full of music, laughter, and community spirit! 💛

🌱 Gardening Club at Kington Court! 🌱

Our residents enjoyed a lovely session planting seeds with Jack, our gardener. From onions, radishes, and salad leaves to violas and sweet peas, there was plenty of green-fingered fun! 🥬🌸

Gardening isn’t just enjoyable — research shows that putting your hands in soil exposes you to mood-boosting bacteria called Mycobacterium vaccae, which can trigger the release of serotonin in your brain. Potting seeds also gives a wonderful sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. 🌞

A truly therapeutic and rewarding activity for all involved!
