I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.

Fabulous article from the wonderful Emma Roberts about treatments to support Peri-menopause. She note’s finding a medical herbalist as a good option! As a degree qualified herbalist I support a large number of women through Peri-menopause. I’m able to offer them time and space to discuss their symptoms and feelings. Then I create a tailor made herbal prescription to support their needs which works alongside any other medication they take. Lots of other fabulous ideas such as yoga and relaxation which all support women during this transition.

Here's a top 10 reminder: What has helped you in your peri/meno from this list?

🌿Restorative or nidra yoga and if you can find a practitioner menopause yoga 🧘
Check out
🌿Mindfulness or meditation, you can start with guided practice whilst you are learning
🌿Acupuncture, can also be good for PMT and cramps in peri menopause. Releases endorphins too...
🌿Work with a herbalist who has a wealth of knowledge on herbal remidies and works closely with women in menopause
Also have a chat with your local health food store....I've had some great tips from my local stores both back in Yorkshire and here in Perth and Kinross.
🌿Massage
🌿Swimming in cold water
🌿A walk in nature
🌿Coffee with a fellow menopauser friend for mutual support and laughs
🌿Talking therapy - counselling, can be helpful to work through unresolved or past trauma at this life stage
🌿Coaching & mentoring (obvs!) Lifestyle change, new habits, listened to and supported in a safe place, mindset and new plans unique to you. Re-imagining your future through this change.
🌿Hypnotherapy - yep that's 11! Can also help with sleep and anxiety.

All of these therapies will help to support your adrenals. And that's the key!

P.s. Next free webinar will allow women the opportunity to share what has worked for them and honour that we all have a unique experience.

Date will be Wednesday 22nd Feb at 4.00 pm. More details coming soon but you can DM me to sign up now 🤩
Oh and this one's gonna be free 😊

The second part in my home help colds and flu treatment! How to use kitchen cupboard cullenary herbs to treat your sniffles!

Ginger
Ginger is a brilliant warming herb and a circulatory stimulant. Another reason we get unwell in the winter is because everything slows down and gets sluggish when it is cold. Ginger stimulates, heart and circulation and has a warming effect on the body. It also has anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties and is excellent for sore throats, reducing a fever, clearing catarrh and a wide range of bacterial and viral infections. This herb can be a bit too warming for some on the digestion, start with a little and see how you respond.

Garlic
Garlic has similar properties and is possibly the strongest natural anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral herb that exists. Its active component allicin is released when garlic is crushed, sadly its beneficial properties are greatly reduced by cooking. Thankfully there are many other options for those of us who don’t fancy cloves of raw garlic or smelly breath! Capsules work well!

Herbal medicine has had somewhat of a revival in the press recently, perhaps due to the Hollywood A listers discovering Adaptogens?

If, like me, you are trying to avoid all the colds and viruses, and you are interested in herbal remedies to help boost your immunity, then over the next few weeks I will share the top easy to access herbs that will help!

The best way to take herbs is as a food source rather than supplements. However if you are already unwell, then medicinal herbs are available in stronger tincture form. I am happy to talk you through the options at an appointment or you can purchase some of the more obscure remedies below from me or other health food shops.
Here is the first of my five top medicinal herbs to take while it's chilly outside!

Siberian ginseng
Siberian ginseng belongs to the class of herbs that are called adaptogens. Adaptogens are incredible herbs that help the body adapt to stress and increase vitality. We tend to get unwell when we are tired or stressed, cold and flu is the way our body tells us that it needs rest. Adaptogens are extremely helpful in providing us with nourishment, they ‘balance’ our body systems and they calm us down when we are stressed

Siberian ginseng specifically enhances immunity against infections. It also has a powerful anti-fatigue effect, can increase endurance and the ability of the mitochondria cells to produce energy. However, avoid taking it after midday, as like caffeine it can keep you from sleeping well.

Please get in touch if you want to discuss any of the information on today's or the next few weeks posts. if you would like an appointment to discuss your situation in depth please call 07741044233 or message me below. Stay well, louise

Hello everyone! Happy January/2023! My apologies for my apparent lack of posting! There seems to be something wrong with the posts I have logged to be automatically posted! It also won’t let me post the articles I have written in word which I normally copy and paste into Facebook! I’m working on it and trying to access help! For now if you would like a new patient in person appointment I am available in Kinross on Wednesday 9:30-5 and Monday’s 6:30-8:30. Please feel free to contact me for a brief discussion pre-appointment on 07741 044233 or message me below.
