There are so many coping strategies, Adams is writting poetry...

Night terrors

The days are short, a fleeting glimpse of light,
While the nights stretch on, an endless, somber plight.
My distant past, a shadow creeping near,
Reminding me of wounds that still feel searing.

A sudden fright, a gasp within the dark,
A sweltering heat, leaving its fiery mark.
My sheets, once solace, now a clammy shroud,
Dripping in sweat, I cry out loud.

On this cold night, a chilling paradox,
Steam rises bright, a testament to shocks.
"What causes this?" my mind begins to plead,
Then memory floods, a horrifying deed.

The crime replays, a loop of endless pain,
I am the victim, caught in this cruel rain.
Survivor's guilt, a weight I cannot shed,
I never asked for this, this terror in my bed.

"Help me, help me," a whisper in the night,
Forever shaking, consumed by inner fight.
I sit and cry, the pain a constant sting,
Anxiety's grip, forever making me swing.

The thoughts persist, a relentless, haunting chase,
Whether I sleep or wake, they mark my face.
I speak to those who offer guiding hand,
But feel a burden, lost in shifting sand.

They don’t understand, their eyes reflect distress,
Leaflets they offer, offering no success.
"Help, help, I can't go on," a desperate plea,
"Find me a bridge, a final release for me."

Let this all end, this torment without cease,
Grant me some freedom and inner peace.
For those who hear the distant, silent screams,
For those who live within their film's dark scenes,

You're not alone, though shadows cloud your way,
There's strength in knowing, you'll find a brighter day.
