Standing Stone’ 'Seven black crows flew over a hedge, gathering dark at Winter's edge.' Illustrating a thought that stayed in my head after travelling towards Ribston Hall at dusk a few weeks ago and a flock of black birds (maybe crows) flew up over a hedge. It’s a bit like trying to take a photo without a camera or remembering a dream.

I'm really looking forward to teaching on two new Foundation Degree courses at Harrogate College, starting September 2020. We have some fantastic facilities including traditional photography darkrooms and studios, and we're already busy preparing and delivering video tutorials and online sessions in case lockdown continues.
The illustration on this Graphic Design and Illustration leaflet is by illustrator Domanic Li one of our BA Creative Practice students 2018-2019.

A reconstruction of the East Gate at Knaresborough Castle circa 1540 showing the moat, the drawbridge and the portcullis.
Crossing the drawbridge from the castle would have brought you out at the back of the Cross Keys.

What do I design and illustrate?

The answer is whatever comes along ... children’s products, architectural projects, museum and heritage design and build, medical operative technique, apps, educational resources, exhibitions, branding ...

I like variety and have a wealth of experience in the advertising, design, packaging and heritage sectors.

I have a broad range of illustrative styles and techniques and I’m equally happy working with pencils, paints and markers as I am with a range of digital media, or a mix of both.

I thrive on a challenge and I'm always trying out new ideas and new techniques. I can design from a concept scribbled on the back of an envelope and I can also follow a tight brief, either way I deliver a professional bespoke service and I never miss a deadline.
