Millie begins sessions with visual tools such as the Blob Tree as a fun ice-breaker to explore how children are feeling the moment, especially during more challenging days at school. Millie also assess their emotional literacy by exploring their understanding of more complex emotion vocabulary 👍

Emily includes pupil voices in her assessment with older children, through the use of talking mats. Emily makes sure she considers their views and opinions when setting targets and includes that contribution in her reports. This allows staff and parents to see these views too. 🗣️ ⭐

Lots of practise means lots of progress! Eve uses activities that create lots of opportunities to practise target words. Helping children get the repetition they need to learn and use new speech sounds. Increasing opportunities to practice the words supports faster learning and stronger progress ⭐

Emily has been supporting one of her older pupils with their speech sounds. By incorporating games like UNO and Dobble, sessions stay fun and engaging while still achieving a high number of practice trials 🎲

Pronouns made fun! Using pronouns can be tricky for children, but Sarah has been making this skill fun and interactive through the use of visuals. The child collected pieces for a monkey game along the way. At the end of the session we enjoyed playing this together 🐒

Natasha recently delivered a workshop on using communication boards in the classroom. Staff had the opportunity to practice using the boards with bubbles, play dough, and building blocks 😀 👍

Leah and Rose recently completed a Colourful Semantics follow-up session with the amazing teachers and teaching assistants at one of our school contracts 🌈 It's been wonderful to see how they've implemented colourful semantic strategies in the classroom. We loved this resource that a teaching assistant made to support a KS2 child build sentences 😍

Eve has been supporting a child to use their new sounds in everyday talking. Generalising speech sounds beyond the therapy room takes lots of practice and this child’s hard work is really paying off! 🤩

Leah loves using this Julia Donaldson book to support rhyming with young children! Children with speech sound difficulties are at higher risk of later literacy challenges so we make sure to build phonoloigcal awareness into our speech therapy sessions 📚
