I simply love this observation!
Mindfulness takes a little time to settle in with us, but little by little we can all learn such a useful skill, no matter how young or old we are.
It helps us self regulate when we become discombobulated and we learn to appreciate the small things and discover how happiness is actually easily accessible 💕

Mindfulness can help us learn to observe the coming and going of the weather patterns in our own lives, without being tossed and turned by every breeze.

Happy Spring Equinox everyone, here’s to noticing the small special moments, to new beginnings and to looking positively onwards 🌱

Today marks the Spring Equinox, an annual event beautifully described by Lia Leendertz in this year’s The Almanac:

‘A moment of perfect balance will occur this month. On 20 March at 21.24 the sun will be exactly above the equator. Pole to pole, the earth will be half in shadow, half in sunlight. The whole world will have 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night: Norway, Jamaica, Brazil, New Zealand and the UK and Ireland.

‘We are all looking for balance in our lives, but March with the vernal/spring equinox, is a good moment to think about the nature of it. Balance is not a stable state. Mere moments later Norway will start to stretch towards summer, and New Zealand will shrink towards winter. That moment of balance is brief in the extreme, a tiny sliver of time. Like standing on one leg, if we want more balance in our lives we have to work at it, infinitesimally adjusting to change, concentrating our minds.’

There’s a new guy on the block.
Meet Mr Calm.
Mr Calm is…
Peaceful
Relaxed
Tolerant
Be more like Mr Calm 💕 😎🧘🏻‍♀️😌

Mr. Calm has a very peaceful and easy-going outlook on life. He appreciates the simple pleasures, including spending time in nature and practising yoga, but he also loves rock climbing and parkour when he’s in the great outdoors. He encourages his friends to think before they act and live in the moment. His relaxed and tolerant perspective means that he is a calming influence and a wise head.

What a fab bit of info, this is! Really useful for parents and it’s just what us Children’s Yoga teachers do; it’s all about adjusting the well made session plans to suit the energy in the room 😊

This clip from Inside Out is a great example of how to validate someone's experiences and respond to their feelings with empathy and compassion. Joy tries to distract Bing B**g from his emotions, while Sadness attunes to him, making him feel heard and understood.

Can’t deny that this just bought a tear to my eye!
So powerful yet so simple. Love this film 🍿 💕

Adolescence is all about the transition from childhood to adulthood. It can be a confusing time for everyone - not just for our teens but also for the adults who love them.

Too often, the line between childhood and adulthood can be a blurry one. The expectations of adulthood can come charging at them, but without the freedoms, confidence, or capabilities that adulthood brings. They can feel with such depth and intensity, but without the adult wisdom or experience to make sense of those feelings.

They’ll be okay, but it might feel wobbly for a while. In the meantime they will look to us for signs of safety and certainty. This doesn’t mean certainty that everything will always be okay - it won’t be - but certainty that they’ll get through, certainty that they are extraordinary, and needed, and that their will be a space and a place in the world that only they can fill.

We might not always feel that certainty. Some days we might ache, and wish we could make their world feel softer for a while. In those times, it will be less about what you do and more about who you are - being the one who can be with them without needing them to be different, the one who can handle any of their hurts or heartaches with gentle, certain hands, the one who can block out the world for a while by letting them rest in our care without needing them to be, or do, or give anything back in return.♥️
