🔔 Stress less, breathe more�: Stress tightens muscles and makes pain feel worse. Slow, deep belly breathing can calm your nervous system in under 30 seconds.

🧦 Keep moving, even while sitting: �No posture is perfect if you hold it too long. Change position regularly, especially during long festive meals or cosy evenings.

🎅 Your exercises are your Christmas magic: �Even a few minutes of rehab or exercise each day keeps your progress going!

🎅🏻 Life Tip from a Physio (Mrs Claus Edition) 🎄

This festive season, Jane shares a gentle reminder about the importance of always having a fitness goal.

With arthritis in both of my knees, I never take a pain-free walk for granted. Each year, we set a date in the diary for a week of challenging walking or cycling with friends. And honestly? Not wanting to be the weakest link in the group keeps me focused on staying strong, fit, and prepared.

A huge thank you to my friends for giving me the reason — and the motivation — to keep myself in the best shape I can.

🎁 Give yourself a Christmas present this year: choose a challenge for 2026 that will keep you active, committed, and moving towards your best self.

🎁 Gift tip:
Stick to small presents so there’s no heavy lifting. Otherwise bend those knees, hold the big heavy present close and avoid twisting! If in doubt, get someone else to lift it 😉

🎄 Christmas should be a time of joy…

A chance to slow down, enjoy ourselves, and do things we don’t usually have time for. But for many of us, the festive season can feel the opposite — busy, stressful, and less active than normal.

As a Sports Massage Therapist and Personal Trainer, I see how this can impact the body every year. So here are the first 3 of my festive tips to help you stay strong, mobile, and feeling good.

🥶 Don’t let your joints freeze like the weather�Cold months often mean less movement and more stiffness. Add an extra layer and include gentle movement every hour to keep joints lubricated and muscles warm.

⭐ Pace yourself like Santa on a long night�Festive jobs add up quickly. Break tasks into smaller chunks rather than doing everything at once to avoid flare-ups and overload.

🦌 Be like Rudolph: lead with strong glutes!�Your glutes and hips support posture and protect your back and knees during lifting and walking. Engage them more to move safely and confidently.
