💚 Outstanding Teamwork. Exceptional Care. A Life Saved. 💚

We are incredibly proud to recognise the outstanding actions of these three amazing members from our division that recently responded to a cardiac arrest, which resulted in a successful resuscitation and achieving return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC).

Working seamlessly under pressure, they delivered immediate, high-quality CPR, defibrillation and airway management, all whilst communicating calmly and effectively with the 999 call handler.

This was a true team effort. Alongside our St John Ambulance Cymru team were:
• Two off-duty nurses
• An off-duty paramedic
• An on-duty paramedic
• A UCS crew

Each person played a vital role. From early recognition and rapid intervention to sustained resuscitation and coordinated handover, this was teamwork at its very best.

Moments like this remind us why early CPR, rapid defibrillation, and collaborative working are so powerful. Because of their actions, someone will get to go home to their loved ones.

We are enormously proud of the professionalism, composure and clinical skill shown by everyone involved.

Our thoughts are with the patient and their family, and we wish them a full, speedy return to health

What a year it has been for St John Ambulance Cymru – Lampeter Division.

Our volunteers have worked tirelessly throughout the year — training hard, providing first aid cover at events, educating our community (>1000 hands on CPR), and fundraising (£917.39) to ensure we can continue supporting those who need us most. Every hour given has been done so selflessly, often behind the scenes, and always with compassion and professionalism.

From supporting local events and organisations, to developing new and existing volunteers, to a new training programme, this division continues to show what teamwork, commitment, and community spirit really look like. None of this would be possible without the dedication of our volunteers, youth members, leaders, supporters, and everyone who gives up their time to help others.

As we reflect on the year, we are incredibly proud of everything that has been achieved — and grateful to our community for the continued support you show us.

Here’s to another year of learning, growing, and caring for our community 💚

Yesterday we received a very generous donation of £800 from Lampeter Bowls Club, who have been working hard fundraising for us and another charity this year. This will go towards funding our lifesaving work. Diolch enfawr!

Have you ever watched Casualty or 999 and thought “Wow! I’d love to help people like that!” - then look no further.

A fun and rewarding volunteering role awaits you, where you get to;

-Learn lifesaving skills such as CPR, choking management, defibrillator use, severe bleeding management, the recovery position, and so much more

-Form new friendships and work alongside an awesome team whilst developing your confidence, problem solving skills, leadership, and resilience

-Go to events pan-Wales to support as an event first responder, and progress your skills to emergency responder or even to a paid role; from your small local concerts and fêtes to Coldplay and international rugby matches!

- Assist with training the community with lifesaving skills, engage with the public, and fundraise to support our lifesaving work

- Enjoy plenty of tea, coffee, and cake!
