As a small, independent business committed to serving the community with care and integrity, we work extremely hard every day to grow, improve, and offer services that truly benefit the public.
That’s why it’s disheartening to share that this week, instead of focusing solely on patient care, we’ve had to spend time dealing with shoplifters, something no business, especially in a Royal Burgh like Lanark, should expect to face on what is becoming a regular basis. We are willing to support those struggling if they ask for help, and do so when we can, as some of you know, but do not appreciate those helping themselves.
To protect our team and customers, we’ll be upgrading our security systems in the coming weeks. Your safety and the safety of our staff remain a top priority, and this will hopefully help the local area.
We also feel compelled to share our concern about the broader state of the town. While £350k was recently spent to create a “safe and welcoming multi-use space” at the bottom of the High Street, the reality appears that some of the closes and lanes around the high street have been left neglected, with broken glass, litter, and even reports of drug paraphernalia. From our point of view, it certainly feels less safe with some of the scenes we are seeing on the high street.
Lanark is a town with a rich heritage and a strong community spirit. We know many share our concerns, and we believe that more can and should be done to ensure the whole town is truly safe, clean, and welcoming.
Let’s work together for a safer Lanark. 💙
