MEDITATION FOR ALL, EVERY FRIDAY 3.30-4.30pm
A welcoming space for meditation practice with Adam Gregory, meditation teacher.

+ All levels of experience are welcome, whether you're an experienced meditator wanting to sit with a group, or you're looking to begin your practice, or anywhere in between.

+ You will find the support of the group will really boost your practice, and Adam will offer guidance and advice when needed.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SESSION
The session usually consists of a period of about 25 minutes of silent meditation, about 5 minutes of walking meditation (stepping slowly in silence in circle) and then another short period of seated meditation. We usually finish the hour long class with a cup of tea and time for reflection, integration and conversation.

This structure can change depending on the needs of people present. Instruction will be given to those who are new to the group, and there may be instruction (for example, around Loving Kindness practice, Mindful practice, use of the breath, correct posture, exploring distractions, or Somatic Meditation).

WHO THESE SESSIONS ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR
+ If you're currently experiencing an acute situation (such as constant flashbacks, severe anxiety, psychosis) periods of silence or reflection may exacerbate your situation and wouldn't be recommended for you at this time, especially in a group situation.

+ We would not recommend any meditation or relaxation class to you if you're currently under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

I went to an exquisite sound session at the Centre yesterday with Jennifer Zimri Tucker and I really recommend you to do the same next week if you need an hour of rest and recuperation in your week. Jenni sang songs of togetherness, community and oneness in her native languages, offered the gentle rhythms of the drum, lulled us into an alternate reality with her singing bowls and offered time for silence and integration. Afterwards someone said their sinus congestion had cleared and at times the sound of their tinnitus had gone completely which was beautiful to hear. These sessions run every Wednesday 1.30-2.30pm £7.50 / £5 concession. If you’d like to come please text Jenni on 07876 501788 to book your place. ♥️

Today is the anniversary of our beautiful Tara, seen here with her equally beautiful mum Glenys, both of whom I still miss so much. If you’re new to us you might not know that we’re named in memory of our friend Tara Radcliffe who passed in 2010, aged 36. Tara was honestly one of the most interesting people I have ever met and my love for her remains as true today as it did when we were together. I remember her laughter and cheeky eyes and her massive hugs like we were together yesterday. We have these two angels guiding us in spirit and I know Tara makes sure we can always pay our rent! Sending much love to Finn and Connor and everyone who loved these two amazing women. I think they’d be proud of our little corner of the world. ♥️

Every month since 2017 we have run a low-cost therapies clinic offering free or donation-based access to complementary therapies. We all offer our time for free as a collective commitment to health justice for people living with the impacts of trauma, and I couldn't be more proud of our work. Each time we run these sessions my heart opens a little more. This month Laura offered Bowen therapy and we were joined for the first time by Tamara from Stillpoint Acupuncture. The next session is on 20th November and there are a few appointments still available so do book in if you're looking for some support with your health and wellbeing. We're here for you. ❤️

They say happiness is a habit - it's not a destination or something that happens to you, but rather a choice and a skill that can be developed through conscious daily practices. Have you thought about making small changes that might make a difference in the way you feel? A new class we have at the Tara Centre that could support you is a Movement and Meditation session with Eli on Tuesdays 11-12. These sessions are a chance for you to be in a small group with a kind and loving teacher who will gear the class to those who are present. There will be gentle movement, adapted to what you're able to do (including seated in a chair if you need), a chance to be with your breath and bring more energy into your body, time for quiet meditation and some time for conversation and connection at the end. Why not join Eli today or email her to have a chat about your needs at abundantiawellbeing@gmail.com.
Eli is like a ray of sunshine and I know you'll love her. ❤️

Did you know about a service called Shout? It's a free, confidential, 24/7 text messaging service for anyone who is struggling to cope, whatever your age. You text 85258 with the word Shout and you'll be connected to a trained volunteer who will speak with you by text. People text Shout due to feelings of su***de, depression, anxiety, relationships, loneliness and self-harm. About half the people who reach out say texting Shout is the first time they've asked for help from any one. So if you're feeling alone and need support, don't suffer on your own. ❤️

PS for clarity, this is a national confidential service - not a Tara Centre project.

(I've put a video in the comments with information about what happens when you text)

What happens when a Buddhist priest becomes a chef? We get a 5 star Food Hygiene rating! For the past few months Jitei has been keeping about 20-25 asylum seeker friends and lots of us volunteers fed every week within a budget of around £20. The good news (and no surprise to us) is that we had an inspection from the Council and have received a 5 star rating with the comments “excellent food preparation and hygiene practices”. Thank you Jitei for all you quietly do for us all. Your support means the world. We love you. ♥️

(If you’re wondering what Kevin is holding up - it’s the back of the sticker we have to display with our rating - if you zoom in enough you’ll see the 5!)

Aw these beauties are at the Tara Centre today offering their healing hands, love and expertise to 12 people who would otherwise not be able to access therapeutic support. These therapy clinics are offered as part of our commitment to health justice for people living with the impacts of trauma and I couldn’t be more proud of the work we do and the Tara community. Thank you Becky, Laura and Caroline. I love you. ♥️

09/09/2025

We're excited to welcome Carol Ann Weston to the Tara Centre this Saturday for a group EFT workshop, working specifically on chronic pain, tension and discomfort. 10am-12.30pm, £30.

Carol Ann has been teaching EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques, otherwise known as Tapping) for many years and brings her experience to Lancaster for these monthly workshops. Each workshop will have a different theme.

You will be in a small group, guided to tap gently on different points on your own face and hands to ease pain and discomfort. The points you tap on are specific acupuncture points which have helped millions of people across the world manage their own symptoms.

Not only will you benefit from the experience of group tapping (like meditation, tapping can be powerful in the company of others), but you will leave with a fantastic resource you can use in your everyday life.

Come and give it a try!

HOW TO BOOK - contact Carol on 07581 706 602.
