The series is tailored towards men, as Baz noticed a growing number of men suffering from anxiety during his time consulting as a family physician. Many had resorted to self-fixing their problem using soother and stimulant drugs without understanding of the processes behind anxiety and why they occur.

His aim with the series is to bridge the gap between simple self-help measures and the world of therapies and medications. It teaches fundamentals- practical methods and new habits in order to,engage with their problem. Balance is the ability to evenly distribute your time and attention . With so many things going on , you might find yourself struggling to make time for everything in your life and this can lead to feelings of overwhelm, frustration and irritation. This is something everyone struggles with yet learning to find balance in your life is essential. Balance helps you to prioritise what is important in your life , it gives you the opportunity to focus on other things outside of work, other people and most importantly it gives you permission to focus on yourself. When you are in balance you have so much more energy, you can be available for yourself and for others. When you feel out of balance you can feel trapped.

This 2 &1/2 hour workshop with give you the time and space to begin to rebalance yourself. Using Forrest yoga sequence, meditation , mindset practices Sarah with give you tools to use in your everyday life to support you to find your balance. There will be a sharing circle at the end of this workshop to consolidate your practice.

Sometimes I think we find that we are not always where we thought we would be and Christmas time can highlight for us. Perhaps it’s because we are in the darkness of the mid winter, we are waiting for the light to return? This time brings a pause and sometimes that can feel welcome , other times it can feel challenging or at least a sense of resistance to what is. Ive been using these last few days since the winter solstice to truly sit with what I have been given in my life. To offer thanks and gratitude for the abundance in my life, my body, health, family that I have food on my table and people round me to share it with. I would like to point out that I’ve found this practice a little difficult, there are things I want and it is hard sometimes to acknowledge that there is already is enough. Christmas night has always been a magical night for me and tonight feels no exception. When I used to work nights on the wards I always felt the same it feels as though the world stops and pauses for a moment on Christmas night and we have a chance to remember who we truly are and the light within us and have gratitude for that, even if it’s not exactly as we thought we would be. We are on the path and HERE NOW, exactly as we are and there is such beauty in such moments, in the stillness.

I really felt this weekend that winter was here. My body started to feel more tired, I wanted peace and quiet and felt the need to hibernate. It something that nature seems to do so well so beautifully move with the season’s and change so seamlessly but I find that humans seem to find more difficulty with change.

There is the push and pull, the expectation the mind tries to dictate instead of listening to the silent language of the body. This week I have surrendered, I am allowing the experience of winter to be here now all around me , with the feelings in my body, the expectation of Christmas and the cold wind blowing around me.

I am learning to work with the push and pull and my work this week is to find the balance with that that works for me .
As with all my teaching ,I teach from what I’m experiencing in the moment and so I be offering this as our intention for class this week, I invite you to join me.

Our experience of feeling power or powerlessness can hang on a single thought. How we choose to react to a situation presented to us is really where the true power lies. This is not about just ‘thinking positively ‘ as we need to acknowledge what we are experiencing and allow it to be there, not run away, or suppress it but allow it. What we choose do with it after that well that’s where the magic is, do we run or do we own it. Do we take responsibility for it and take action from there or stuff it under the carpet hoping no one will notice all the time feeling completely deflated. The problem with stuffing , suppressing and pretending is that these thoughts don’t really go away, they just manifest in different ways instead. Tensions in the body, poor sleep, anxiety to name a few. Forrest Yoga practice and meditation allows for a safe window into what is really going on in our bodies and minds. From this place we can take action, we can choose how we want to work on these thoughts, are we going to be pushed by them or are we going to take our power back and choose to think differently. The choice is always ours!

NEW FOUR WEEK FORREST YOGA BLOCK STARTS THIS THURSDAY 7-8.30PM IN ORIA

INTENTION
The Cherokee Legend of the Two Wolves….

Using our Forrest Yoga practice, we will be exploring how we make choices based on our emotions. Once we start to feed the fearful/ angry wolf and fear takes route then we can begin to spiral. We begin to feel our choices are limited. But even when we are in a rock and a hard place situation, we always have the choice to live in integrity.

We will use Forrest Yoga practice over the next 4 weeks to allow us to develop a window into our thought patterns while we practice on the mat.

We will explore how we make choices, how we learn to listen to our wise wolf and make the right a choice for us , standing in our own integrity.

At the end of this 4 week block Sarah will offer a FREE 1 hour meditation and talking space to students who have signed up for the full block , to allow for integration of this

Self maintence is so important, as once our cup is fuller we can be more present with ourselves and everyone else around us. I’ve learned the hard way what happens when you live from an empty cup.

There is so much in our culture that suggests that to give ourselves time we are being (selfish, lazy, weak, )… insert self- punishing word here 👇.
If fact denying ourselves self maintence is counter productive. We don’t become more efficient and get more done we get less. We become frustrated, irritated with ourselves and the self punishing cycle continue.

Self maintence is not a luxury for me it’s part of maintaining and healthy balanced life, it’s stops anxiety cycles and keeps me real and present in the moment.

Sometime in life you have turn things upside down to get a new perspective. Those old thought patterns, endless worrying can really take a hold of us and start to really cause stress and anxiety. When this happens to me and I catch myself doing it , I try do the exact opposite of what those old worrying thought loops want me to do.
I take a breath and think what are the possibilities here?

Inversions help me with this, they turn the problem upside down because well I am upside down!! This pushes me have to think differently.

Yesterday in class we started to work with this pose and something I had been stressing about just didn’t seem such a big deal when I turned it around.
There are different variations to this pose , all are inversions.
Downward dog,
Downward dog on leg up( wall or no wall)
Downward dog on the wall
Shower against the wall.

If you want to try turning things upside down yourself, I have 3 spaces left for Thursday’s 7.30-9pm 4 week block.

It can be difficult to describe the feeling of being grounded, for me it is an inner strength a knowing that I can accomplish what I wish effortlessly with no rush. I can fully breathe and feel my feet, my belly feels soft.

I think it’s is probably easier to describe the feeling of not feeling grounded.
I overthink, I grit my teeth, I worry, my body feels tight. I find myself snapping and becoming irritated when I would normally let stuff go.
Yes !
This is me when I am not grounded and over the years I’ve taught myself through my practice to pick up on these signal quickly by building self awareness through my body.

My remedy is a simple one for this, it Time for ME TIME!
I used to have to think about it, I used to argue with myself that I needed to do other things, now I just do it as I’m of not use or ornament feeling this way.
Practice is required STAT!!

And that’s just what I do, I let go, I leave things, I say no (even though I feel the pressure sometimes ) and I practice on my mat. After that , when I feel I have come back home to myself , I pick up the stuff I was dealing with, the worrying and stressing or overthinking and I find most of it goes in my metaphorical bin! It no longer serves me and it’s not needed.

The stuff that really needs my attention gets my full attention then because I am grounded, humble close to the earth and I have regained my sense of inner security so now I can accomplish what felt impossible a few hours ago.

That’s my rhythm and pattern now, the more I build body awareness the easier it gets for me to reset. What felt like a mountain once (to give myself the time )is easier each time. Ive now learned to create new patterns and release old ones that do not serve.

Hello and welcome to Gentle Warrior since childhood I have always had a huge desire to support and care for people and this lead me to training and working as a nurse in the NHS.

I have always held a curiosity and interest for holistic therapies. I have practised different styles of yoga for many years, through my own personal journey I discovered the advantages that Yoga, Massage and Meditation have on my mental and physical health.
