What a fantastic way to finish our February Half Term Holiday Club at Indigo! 💙

Our final day began with creative dragon collages, with the children carefully layering colours and textures to bring their fiery designs to life 🐉✨

Next came the serious decision-making… designing their perfect pizza! 🍕 From toppings to box decorations, every detail was planned before our very special afternoon visit from Mark at North West Pizza, which was definitely the highlight of the day and such a fabulous way to end half term!

The children stepped inside the pizza van for a real hands-on experience, learning all about traditional Italian dough, why it’s so important to get the texture just right, and how to stretch it carefully into that classic pizza shape. They even used the temperature tool to see just how hot the oven was 🔥 and watched in amazement as, just 90 seconds later, their pizzas were perfectly cooked and ready to enjoy!

A huge thank you to all our wonderful parents and children for supporting us at Indigo as we step into this new chapter, with our change of venue. Your continued support truly means the world to us and we’re so grateful to have such an amazing community around us. 🫶🏼

Thanks again to North West Pizzas for such a fabulous workshop, we all had an absolute blast, learnt lots and thoroughly enjoyed your divine pizzas! 🍕😋 For anyone living locally North West Pizza are stationed in Brookhouse at Lune Valley Methodist Hub every Friday evening! 👌🏼💯🏆

And don’t forget… Easter is just FIVE weeks away! 🐣🌸
Easter Holiday Club bookings will be going live on the booking system next week – keep your eyes peeled!

What a fantastic day at Holiday Club! ✨

This morning started with some lovely free-choice crafting, giving everyone the chance to explore their own creativity. After that, we followed a step-by-step guided tutorial on how to draw a Chinese dragon 🐉. At the beginning, lots of the children were convinced they wouldn’t be able to do it — but by the end they were absolutely amazed at what they had created! The pride on their faces when they saw their finished artwork was just wonderful to see.

We also enjoyed some fun team-building games focused on using our different senses, encouraging communication, cooperation and lots of laughter along the way!

After lunch, we introduced the children to the curling event at the Winter Olympics 🥌. They learned how the game works before getting creative and making their own hand-crafted tabletop versions to take home, using mirrored cardstock and recycled materials. Once they were finished, it was straight into friendly competition as they challenged each other to matches — there were some very serious curlers in the room!

We wrapped up the day with some prize-winning games, ending another jam-packed session full of creativity, teamwork and confidence building.

We can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!

Today at Half Term Holiday Club we carried on our Chinese New Year celebrations and it was another wonderful, creative day! 🏮✨

The children made their very own Chinese Zodiac wheels to take home and tell their families which animal year they were all born in! 🐉🐍🐎🐒. There were lots of excited conversations as they all discovered which animal they were! We looked at elements and how they change the new year alongside all the animals.

We also explored art through a beautiful cherry blossom tree painting and collage activity 🌸 The children experimented with different brush styles to create texture for their tree trunks and branches, then used a range of pink tissue papers to build up delicate blossom effects. It was fantastic to see how individual and unique each piece turned out.

Break times were full of energy and laughter, especially during our very competitive (and hilarious!) animal impressions game 🐯🐰 Safe to say we have some very talented performers in the group!

Another day full of creativity, confidence-building and fun! Another day making things, making friends, making memories. 💛

It’s HALF TERM HOLIDAYS ALREADY !! 🎨✨

We’ve had two completely jam-packed days of creative fun at Holiday Club… but today was EXTRA special! 💛

Today we celebrated:
🥞 Shrove Tuesday (yes… we made and ate delicious pancakes!)
💛 Random Act of Kindness Day
🐎 The start of Chinese New Year – Year of the Fire Horse 🔥
❄️ And all the excitement of the Winter Olympics currently underway! ⛷️🏂⛸️🥇🥈🥉

The children have been busy…
🥠 Making (and cracking open!) fortune cookies
🏮 Creating beautiful Chinese lanterns
📖 Learning all about the Chinese Zodiac and the story of The Great Race
💌 Designing heartfelt cards for Random Act of Kindness Day
🎨 Painting stunning watercolour canvases inspired by the highlights of the Winter Olympic sports we watched

The creativity, kindness and enthusiasm this week has been incredible to see. We are so proud of every single child 💫

And the best part? We’re only halfway through! We can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings 🙌😃

🎃✨ What a fang-tastic finale to our October Holiday Club! ✨🎃

We wrapped up the week with a spooktacular Halloween celebration full of tricks, treats and giggles galore! The children brewed up some gooey fun making slime in mini cauldrons, stitched their very own hand puppets, and created Halloween wreaths worthy of any haunted house! 🕸️

Our Oreo spiders were almost too cute to eat (almost 🕷️🍪) and the Halloween games had everyone shrieking with laughter. From start to finish, it was a bewitchingly brilliant day to end an amazing week together!

Thank you to all our little ghouls and goblins for bringing their spooky sparkle, we hope you all had a boo-tiful Halloween! 💜🦇🧙‍♀️

🌿🔥 What a day we had yesterday at Holiday Club! 🔥🌿

We spent the whole morning outdoors on a bushcraft survival adventure, learning all about the basics of staying alive in the wild, from building our own shelters to hunting down the driest leaves and twigs for our Kelly Kettle fire.

Everyone had a go with flint and steel, and after a bit of teamwork and determination, we soon had our fire roaring! Then came the best bit… toasting marshmallows and making hot chocolate (or hot Vimto!) to warm us up. ☕🔥

The afternoon was just as exciting! We got to work straight after lunch, making chocolate apples (yum!) and then got our creative minds whirring to plan and film our very own stop-motion animation. The children brainstormed together to create a storyline, then collaborated to design amazing props, characters and scenery - such imagination and teamwork on show! 🎬🍎🍫🍭

An amazing day all round, full of fun, laughter, and adventure! 💚

🎃 Wednesday Fun at Holiday Club! 🍂

What a fantastic day we’ve had today! This morning the children got stuck into carving and decorating mini pumpkins. They put so much effort into each one and the results were absolutely amazing, especially once we popped a little orange light inside to make them glow. ✨🎃

After all that creativity, we head outside to soak up the autumn sunshine, playing games, climbing trees and building dens together. It was the perfect way to burn off some energy and build up an appetite for lunch! 🌳☀️

This afternoon, we played a few indoor games before planning and designing our very own autumn-themed tote bags. The designs were brilliant! From leafy patterns to spooky Halloween creations, some children even turned theirs into trick-or-treat bags ready for the big night! 🦇👻

A brilliant day all round, filled with laughter, creativity and lots of autumn magic. 🍁💛

Day 2 of our October Half Term Holiday Club 🍂⛅️🌾🍁

What another wonderful day we had! Yesterday, the children created their very own eco-owls using paper cups and natural materials, each one so full of personality and charm! 🦉

We also introduced the beautiful art of silk painting. It’s quite an intricate skill, requiring a steady hand and a little patience, but the children took to it brilliantly. Their focus, creativity and care really shone through, and the finished pieces were absolutely fabulous - vibrant, detailed and completely unique.
🫟🖌️

True to our spirit, we made sure to get outdoors too, enjoying the fresh autumn air, whatever the weather! 🌦️ Connecting with nature is always a big part of our days together and something we always make time for. It’s such a joy to see how much the children thrive when they’re outside together. 🤸⚽️🌳🌦️

We’re so proud of how much everyone is putting into the week - the creativity, teamwork and smiles have been just wonderful to see. 💡💛

🍂 What a perfect start to our October Half Term Holiday Club! 🍁

The autumn sunshine made for a beautiful first day!The trees showed off every shade of gold, red and amber and the children soaked up the fresh air outdoors. ☀️🍃

Inside, our creativity was in full swing! We used air dry clay to make some amazing autumnal creations, crafted secret maps, decorated treasure pouches and even designed our own ceramic fridge magnets. 🎨✨

It’s been such a wonderful day filled with imagination, laughter and the best that nature has to offer. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings! 💛

🎶🎹🎤🎻 🎷🪕MUSIC DAY! 🥁🎺🪈🪇🎵🎼

🎶🎤 We were thrilled to welcome Helen Bowden from Lancaster Music Centre (part of Lancashire Music Hub) to our holiday club this summer! 🤩

Helen brought along some fun new musical gadgets, got everyone singing and even gave the children the chance to listen to, explore and try out instruments. The room was filled with music, laughter and plenty of curiosity. 🎻🥁🎹 We then used Helen’s visit to inspire our crafting session, where the children junk-modelled an instrument of their choice, freestyling their designs. Music really does bring people together – and this session showed just how much joy it can create! 💫

If your child has been inspired and you’d like to know more about joining the BRAND NEW choir starting this September, learning an instrument, or becoming part of one of the fantastic ensembles at Lancaster Music Centre, you can get in touch with Helen directly here:
👉 Helen.Bowden@lancashire.gov.uk

Lancaster Music Centre runs after school during term time from 3:30pm on a Thursday afternoon at Christ Church C of E Primary School in Lancaster. If you prefer, you can just turn up on the day to check it out and your child can try out the classes. You will be greeted at the door by none other than our very own Bobbie, who also works for Lancashire Music Hub at the Lancaster location. Music Centre term starts back on Thurs 11th September. 🎶😊

🧘‍♂️🌳☀️😌 Mindfulness & Wellbeing 🧘‍♂️🌳☀️😌

🌿🧘‍♀️ With the start of the new school year only days away, we thought it was the perfect time to share the memories of our Mindfulness and Wellbeing Day with you. While many children will be full of excitement and counting down the days until they’re back at school, seeing their friends and meeting their new teachers, we realise there are others who are feeling more anxious about school and all the changes that a new school year brings. Mindfulness activities can help children recognise and manage their feelings and build resilience to life's challenges, which is why we try to include creative activities for both the mind and body.

The children started by colouring their own animal mandalas, then got creative with fabric paints and stencils to design their very own mandala pouch bags. 🎨✨ Did you know the repetitive and structured nature of mandala coloring encourages a calm, meditative state, allowing children to be present in the moment and disconnect from any stressful thoughts they may have? Coloring complex shapes can activate the brain's relaxation response, which helps to lower stress hormones and calm the part of the brain associated with fear and stress.

We were also joined by the lovely Sarah from Yoga Buddies, who led outdoor yoga sessions especially designed for the children, which were nature-inspired, calming, and lots of fun. 🦋🌳 Improved balance, strength, endurance, and flexibility are all skills that kids can gain from a routine practice of yoga. Aside from the physical health benefits, yoga can also help with children’s concentration, attention and focus and give them a great awareness of their own body. It’s also a great way to teach children to have quiet time where they can relax, be calm and still, whilst also being a fun, creative experience.

A truly uplifting day for mind, body and creativity. Thanks so much to Sarah for such a wonderful afternoon! 💜 If you’d like to get in touch with Sarah about organising a children’s yoga session, you can reach her here: Yogabuddieslancs@gmail.com
