💙 Anti-Bullying Week at Beaumont College South Lakes 💙

The kind and caring students at Beaumont College South Lakes have been discussing their feelings and emotions to increase their empathy for others in Anti-Bullying Week.

Anti-Bullying Week is an annual event that takes place from November 10 to 14. It aims to raise awareness about bullying and encourages children, teachers, and parents to take a stand against it. The theme for 2025 is "Power for Good," which emphasizes the importance of kindness and collective action to combat bullying, both in-person and online. Schools and organizations across the UK participate in various activities to promote kindness and support for those affected by bullying.

🦸🏼 Not all heroes wear capes! 🦸🏼

Super Heroes at Beaumont College South Lakes have started their latest challenge, powered by Marvel, to do the 'Winter Wonderwheels' virtual race around the world.

All the teams taking part across the country will attempt to cover a combined distance of 55,553 kilometres across all sites!

The Superhero Series is the UK’s one & only disability sports series for the Everyday Superhero! Their mission is simple: to create fun sports events where people with disabilities – AKA Everyday Superheroes – call the shots and don’t have to worry about cut-off times or equipment restrictions.

For the next month at Beaumont College South Lakes, digital trackers and recording sheets will log every step the students and staff take, whether that's a casual stroll at lunchtime, sports in a fitness session or a gruelling trek up the fells of the Lake District. All distances feed straight into the online league table, where they will battle it out with other organisations for top spot.

Remembrance across Beaumont College 🌺

Students across Beaumont College have been taking time this week to reflect and create for Remembrance Day.

In Student Union, learners worked together to complete a beautiful Poppy display and wrote their own thoughtful poems to mark the occasion.

At our South Lakes campus, students in the Environment session visited the Poppy Memorial art installation at Walney Youthability Centre. One of our students, Izzy, helped create some of the poppies featured in the display — she’s pictured proudly with her work.

The group are also pictured alongside the memorial, standing together in remembrance.

A special mention goes to Jack, who used his woodworking skills at Chatsworth Crafts to build a stunning wooden elephant for the display — a creative and heartfelt tribute.

🌟 Building Connections and Independence at Beaumont College 🌟

This week, students have been supported to engage in meaningful interactions with their peers, promoting both social development and emotional wellbeing.

During sessions, they showed fantastic independence by making informed choices about therapy equipment to support their own relaxation and self-regulation.

Peer-to-peer interaction has been a key focus - with students sharing their favourite music, exchanging resources, and engaging in positive face-to-face communication.

These collaborative experiences have helped strengthen friendships, build confidence, and create a wonderful sense of community within the group.

We’re so proud of Harry’s commitment to staying active and supporting his peers to do the same.

🏆 Natspec Trophy Design Competition 🏆

At our Lancaster campus, the Enterprise Art group have been working hard to design trophy's for this years Natspec trophy design competition. After several initial designs they have been working on a 3d version of their final design. The group decided that they wanted to produce a 3D letter N that would stand for NATSPEC as the main focus of the trophy shape. One of the reasons behind this idea was in discussion with Leah, one of the group members that is registered blind. She wanted to be able to have a trophy that was inclusive of all and was easy to recognise as being a trophy for NATSPEC even if you couldn’t see it.

Leah said “It is important to me that everyone knows I’m visually impaired, therefore it would be helpful if trophies were tactile and it was something I could feel and recognise for what I had won it for. That covers everyone with a visual impairment, not just me. I’m thinking of everyone.”

Kayla, Leah's peer in the group said” It wouldn’t be very nice to have an award that you didn’t know what it was for if, just because you couldn’t see it.”

Happy Halloween!

Students at our South Lakes campus enjoyed a variety of exciting Halloween-themed activities leading up to their well-earned half-term break. Creativity flowed during pumpkin decorating at The Coro Hall and spooky painting in an 'impressionist' style during their Arts Award session. The week ended with a Halloween party, full of fun, games, music and fancy dress which was celebrated by all.

Happy Halloween from everybody at Beaumont College South Lakes.

💛 Raising Awareness for Niemann-Pick Disease 💛

Students and staff at our South Lakes campus came together for a special Dance event in support of Niemann-Pick Awareness - a rare inherited metabolic disorder that affects how the body breaks down and uses fats.

Everyone wore yellow, joined in with fun activities, and raised an amazing £60.70 for this meaningful cause.

With one of our students personally affected by Niemann-Pick Disease, this event held even greater significance for our South Lakes community.

A huge well done to everyone involved for showing such kindness, energy and support!
