If all else fails, eat well πŸ’πŸπŸ“πŸ₯¦πŸ… 🌈

We cannot always control everything that happens to us. For example, we cannot always control:

🌧️ The weather (although today is πŸ‘Œβ˜€οΈπŸ˜Ž)
πŸ’€ Sleep (the sunshine helps though πŸ™‚)
πŸ₯΅ Hormones ⬆️ ⬇️ πŸ₯Ά πŸ”₯ 😑 😭
😬 Stress and what life throws at us
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’Ό Other peoples actions or opinions
⏰ Time (but we can make the most of it πŸ™‚)
⏰ The past and the future (all we have is now)
🌎 Global events (heavy but true)

Now some of these issues are waaaaay out of our control and some can be influenced, like morning light to reset your circadium rhythm, less screen time, time in nature and more exercise to reduce stress and help you sleep well. All of course will help with balancing hormones. However some days, no matter how hard you try you just can't win πŸ™ˆ

Now that brings me back to what you can completely control, every single day, and apart from other people, the weather and global affairs, will pretty much help with most of the above issues!

Quite simply, good, nutritious real food! πŸ₯‘ πŸ₯—πŸ‡πŸ„πŸ—πŸ₯•πŸŽπŸŠπŸ‡ πŸ₯šπŸ†πŸπŸ«˜πŸ₯’πŸŒ°πŸ« πŸ₯œ

So while sometimes it feels like the world is on top of you. You always have choices and the little choices make the biggest difference.

Real food is full of nutrition, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, stabilisers blood sugar, balances hormones, improves digestion, balances mood and increases energy, keeping us healthy from the inside out.

Processed and high sugar foods fluctuate blood sugar levels (hungry/ tired / irritable = need more sugar = increased tiredness and long term health issues or weight gain) increasing risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, malnutrition and other chronic illnesses.

If I can give one piece of advice, invest in your health and if all else fails start with eating wholesome, nutritious, REAL food.

Food for thought! 😁

If you need help with this I wrote a simple, easy to understand book, full of wonderful tips on how to be the best version of you. Something I'm super proud of and have received amazing feedback from my clients πŸ’š

What is Shape Up?

A Little Background...

Hi there, I’m Caroline a nutritionist, well-being and exercise coach. I am the creator of the Shape UP programme and the author of the Shape Up book. I am a previous University lecturer of Nutrition. My research and work has taught me diets do not work (all based on research). The majority of clients I have worked with have discovered the more they diet the better they become at gaining fat or developing unhealthy weight control behaviours and / or eating disorders. Diet alone does not equal a healthy body and mind. Exercise alone does not equal a healthy body and mind. However when you combine a nutritious diet, moving more, balanced living (yes you can eat cake or have the odd takeaway, life is for living), apply the 80/20 rule and work on creating new habits and breaking old habits, you have the combination that does equal a healthy mind and body.

When you work on balanced and nutritious eating and listening to your bodies needs you will naturally lose weight (if you need to), you will feel more energised, your mind will feel more balanced and you feel better within yourself. From my experience there are no short term fixes, and we must invest in ourselves, future selves and most importantly our health and well-being. Life is for living and why not live it with energy and vitality, be the version of you!

This is why I created Shape Up, I wanted to help people on a larger scale and prove you do not need to do restrictive dieting to lose weight, obsess over the scales and what food you can or cannot eat. I have worked with many people from many backgrounds, health conditions and weight issues. Shape Up works, you can be happy, healthy, more energised, more body confident and enjoy food. It’s a lifestyle thing.
