We often spend our lives looking outwards for a sign, or at others for a nod of approval, convinced that the key to our belonging and worth is held by something else. This external search for meaning and belonging is a long, exhausting journey that is told by Walt Disney in the story of the Wizard of Oz.
Dorothy’s journey took her far down the Yellow Brick Road, where she braved storms, faced evil witches and wizards to find a way back home, only to discover that the power to return was always resting in the shoes on her feet.
The truth is that the "home" we are searching for isn't a place or a status, but a frequency—one we can all achieve by connecting to the light within us and plugging back into the source from which we came. We all dim our light to fit in to others expectations.
When we stop asking the world to tell us who we are and instead quiet the noise to connect with who we really are, we realize we were never lost. We simply forgot that we’ve had the red slippers all along; all we have to do is trust our own heart and click our heels to return home.
