Last week I was invited to be involved in the University of Birmingham’s first public advisory panel meeting of the LEROS project which officially started at the beginning of March this year.
In this 3-year NIHR funded project, we are going to be mapping and evaluating Lived Experience Recovery Organisations that support people in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction in England and we will also be developing a core outcome set to capture the impact of the work of LEROs in the treatment and recovery System.
The panel has representation from people with lived experience of addiction and recovery and people in professional roles across the drug and alcohol addiction and recovery landscape in England.
I will keep you all posted with updates ❤

We’re in a lull period…
which our language means:
👉 we’re about to accidentally create something incredible
Reiki?
Music therapy?
Throwing jam at a wall and calling it healing?

YOU DECIDE.
🧠 Come help shape what happens next
🫖 Or just come for tea and a sit down

🕛 12–4 – Mixed group
💛 Drug & alcohol support available (you or someone you love)

📍 Langwith / Whaley Thorns Community Centre
Portland Road, NG20 9EZ

This isn’t a service, it’s a space and you belong in it.

📓🫖 MIND IS LOUD? COME SIT WITH US 🫖📓

It’s Monday.
Your brain is already doing 47 things.
Cool. Same.

Mindful Monday is ON (1–3PM)

Today we’re:
✏️ Decorating journals
🧠 Emptying our brains onto paper
☕ Drinking tea like it solves things (it helps a bit)

You don’t need to:
❌ Be calm
❌ Be “good at mindfulness”
❌ Know what you’re doing
You can:
✅ Sit quietly
✅ Scribble nonsense
✅ Zone out and just be in the room

📍 Whaley Thorns Community Centre
(PORTLAND ROAD, NG20 9EZ)
⏰ 1–3PM

Come overthink with us 💛

🧠✨ MINDFUL MONDAYS (but not the cringe kind) ✨🧠

Starting TOMORROW … we’re slowing things down a bit.
Not in a “sit still and be perfect” way…
More like:
“my brain is loud, let’s figure that out together”

We’ll be doing things like:
📓 Journalling (no one’s reading it, promise)
💭 Getting thoughts out of your head and onto paper
🎨 Creative bits (even if you “can’t draw”)
🌬️ Breathing / grounding (without it being awkward)

📍 The Third Space – Whaley Thorns Community Centre
⏰ Mondays 1–3PM

🚨 LITTLE RESET MOMENT 🚨

No men’s group today – but hear us out…
We’re looking at cooking up something new 👇

Potentially turning the Friday session into:
🧠 A structured 12-step style group
🚫 No God stuff (no shade if your into it)
⚡ Neurodivergent-friendly (ADHD / ASD)
📊 Evidence-based, not vibes-only

Because let’s be honest…
A lot of recovery spaces weren’t built for neurospicy brains.

This one will be.

More info coming soon – but if this is something you’d actually come to…

🚪✨ THE DOOR IS OPEN. AGAIN. ✨🚪

12–4 today and honestly… bring whoever.

Ya mum, ya dad, ya nan, ya optician, that mate who says “I’ll come one day” (TODAY IS THAT DAY).

We’ve got:
🫖 Tea (elite level)
🎲 Board games (mildly competitive, no table flipping… yet)
🛋️ Sofas (emotionally supportive)
💬 Chats (deep, weird, healing, chaotic)

As always - no pressure, no labels- just… come exist for a bit.

Also 👀
We’re looking at bringing in Reiki / alternative weird & wonderful healing bits over the next few weeks…

Drop ideas below ⬇️ what do you wanna try??
