A huge thank you to the crew at Larbert Fire Station! 🚒

They kindly came out to support a visit for Robert, a regular patient in the Children’s Ward at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, who has a real love for fire engines. The team were absolutely fantastic with him - patient, kind, and really made his day.

This visit was organised by Lisa, Play Specialist, who is so grateful for the time and kindness shown.

Thank you again to Larbert Fire Station for going above and beyond. ❤️

If you notice that your teen seems down or withdrawn it may be because they’re feeling lonely.

Even if they have lots of friends or if they’re surrounded by family, they can still feel lonely, misunderstood or like they don’t fit in. And teens often feel emotions like loneliness even more strongly than adults. For tips on how to support your teen or young person if they are withdrawn or feeling isolated, visit – ParentClub.scot

Your Contraception Choices After Birth

Contraception might be the last thing on your mind — but evidence shows that there is improved maternal and child health if pregnancies are at least one year apart.

Not all methods are suitable immediately after birth, so it’s important to explore your options early. Your Midwife will discuss this with you during your antenatal appointments.

It's !

This week's comes via Care Opinion Scotland for our Paediatric Diabetes Team. Well done to everyone involved 💙

September 2024 is a month our family will never forget. It arrived quietly, like any other, but within days it became the moment everything changed. After attending a doctor's appointment for an ongoing cough, I mentioned the thirst and bedwetting, which sparked our incredible doctor to check our son's blood glucose level and we were immediately sent to hospital.

Our little boy - full of energy, mischief, and that spark only he has - suddenly wasn’t himself. The staff were lovely but to the point and kept referring to my son as the ‘walking wounded’, a phrase I will never forget. Then it came and nothing prepares you for hearing the words Type 1 diabetes attached to your child.

The world seemed to tilt. There’s a particular kind of fear that comes with a diagnosis like that - a fear that sits in your chest, heavy and unmoving. We were thrown into a whirlwind of numbers, injections, carb counting, hypos, hypers, and the terrifying realisation that this wasn’t temporary. This was life now.

But in the middle of that storm, something remarkable happened. We met the diabetes team at Forth Valley Hospital.

A Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is caused by bacteria entering the urinary tract, usually from the gut. Infection can occur in different parts of the urinary system, including the urethra, bladder and kidneys.

You may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

🔹Passing urine more often than usual
🔹Burning or pain when passing urine
🔹Sudden or urgent need to pass urine
🔹Blood in your urine
🔹Needing to pass urine at night
🔹Pain or discomfort in the lower tummy

Antibiotics aren’t always needed, especially for milder infections, and may not be the best option.

Stay strong before treatment – every step counts

Staying active before cancer treatment can boost your strength, reduce fatigue, and improve recovery. Even small steps - like walking or light stretching - can make a big difference.

Talk to your care team about what’s right for you.
