NHS Scotland is using a new text message service to ensure our patient waiting lists are up to date and that patients still need their appointments or operations.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran, working with the National Elective Coordination Unit (NECU), is contacting patients who have been waiting more than 26 weeks for an inpatient or day case procedure. Starting 20th April 2026, these patients will receive a text message from the mobile number 07860 039092.

The message will ask you to complete a short questionnaire about your current health and condition. This helps us make sure our waiting lists are accurate and that patients get the care they need as quickly as possible.

If you’re on a waiting list for any of these services within NHS Ayrshire & Arran, please do not ignore this message.

This Easter bank holiday, GP practices will be closed on Friday 3 April 2026 and Monday 6 April 2026. Some community pharmacies will remain open during this period and can answer questions on choosing and using the right medicine and provide advice on treating everyday ailments. NHS 24 also has a number of pharmacists who are able to answer medicine and pharmacy-related questions over the telephone on 111.

Over the Festive period, Largs Medical Group are anticipating high levels of demand on our services.

Therefore to ensure that those who require urgent medical attention can access it, we are operating urgent only appointments from 22nd December until 5th January. There will be no pre-bookable GP appointments available during this time period for ongoing/ non-urgent issues.
