What a year it has been. Shedding … more shedding … even more shedding … and just when I thought it was over … MORE shedding. My skin better be as smooth as butter by the end of this.

I didn’t think I’d have enough content to fill this template but now I’m thinking, did the template have enough space to really some up this year for me, probably not. Obviously I haven’t shown the lows and there were many, but I really wanted to remind myself of all the things to be grateful for that happened this year. As there were a lot despite all the challenges. One of the many themes that I dug my heels into was that A LOT can come from doing less and being more. That was a real unravelling of conditioning I endured which left me with a true gift in the end. From that I was truly able to birth Divya Prema from what felt like more solid ground.

Now, as this Gregorian year comes to yet another end, I leave you with this quote:
“Trees have desires. Rocks have knowledge. Jugs are full of emptiness and joy.

All embodied ones have this in common. All are propelled by the same One whose pulse beats in your breast.

Shed insularity.
Be all-pervasive.
Delighting in kinship everywhere.” Yukti verse, The Radiant Sutras.

Another stunningly gorgeous evening of deep deep rest in the womb of the yurt. These nights have quickly become my favourite to teach. An evening of cosy restorative yoga, meditation, chai tea, cake, conversation and community connection. Last night we really were engulfed in the elements with the wind howling outside while we coorried in around the fire.

The last one for the year will be on the 18th December, spaces fill up quickly so treat yerself the nooo.

I get asked quite often why Scotland, how have I lived here for more than 20years despite the weather, and I have many reasons why. But this one is by far my most important. The music, the people and their enormous capacity to elicit joy.

Joy in the face of despair, living in duality with this has been a huge learning curve for me. Giving yourself grace to have fun and feel joy while navigating grief is showing yourself the compassion your deserve to move through life’s challenges.

How did that feel to stay present with the video for the whole time? Did you manage it? Did you want to swipe after 8 secs?

Most of us are aware now of how distracted we are in this current climate but what a lot people don’t realise is the impact this has on your nervous system which has huge knock on effects to your emotional and mental states.

I grew up in a time pre and post computers & the internet, to me, this feels like one of the highest privileges in my experience so far. I feel lucky that I had a chance to cultivate a space within me and my memory where boredom was an access point to the best creative ideas and experiences. These experiences ultimately helped me to create more connection with the people around me and removed me from a space of stress to a place of rest and play.

As an Art psychotherapist working with children, I receive daily reminders of how important it is for us to be present in the human connection, to not lose sight of what’s most important in this life. The joy and sense of freedom of being present and having a regulated enough nervous system is a gift to yourself and the people around you.

This is the ethos of Divya Prema, it’s why I chose to blend modern therapeutic techniques with movement, breath, meditation, sound and creativity. Rest is a practise we have to work on and I know it doesn’t always come easy.
