**IMPORTANT NOTICE**

We know how challenging it can be to get an appointment with your GP right now and we want you to know that WE HEAR YOU! Your concerns are valid, and we are working hard behind the scenes every day to improve access.

The reality is that our government imposed a new contract on Practices in Northern Ireland WITHOUT AGREEMENT!

GP practices need MORE doctors and MORE staff to increase the number of appointments we have. Our Government was asked for £39 per patient per year to allow us to employ extra doctors and staff and they gave practices just under 50p per patient per year!

To put this into perspective.... for Inver Surgery, with 5496 patients, this equates to £2,748.00 extra funding for the entire year!!

Since 2018, more than 28 GP practices in Northern Ireland have CLOSED due to the lack of funding and all of those patients have had to re-register with other local practices who were already bursting at the seams and were given no extra funding to employ extra staff or doctors to care for those patients.

We are managing MASSIVE patient demand and yet GP Practices have only been allocated a measly 5.4% of Northern Ireland's overall healthcare budget!

These pressures affect how quickly and effectively we can help you, however, we remain fully committed to providing the best care we can, under difficult circumstances.

As a result GPs in Northern Ireland are taking collective action to aim for change.

Within practices in Northern Ireland you will see certain changes as we aim to push work back to secondary care that we have historically undertaken that is not part of our GP contract and that we do not receive any payment to undertake.

This will free up time and clinical resources for our patients.

Wow, what a day! Our new computer systems went live today and despite a few wrinkles to iron out, we managed to serve our patients without too many hiccups.

The new system will of course take us time to get used to and we hope to bring some of the perks of the system to the fore and offer our patients an enhanced patient experience.

Thanks to all our staff for your hard work and to all our patients for your support!

Tomorrow-27th August we go live with our new computer system. This will be a massive adjustment for the whole practice team.

Our admin team and clinicians will be working hard to clear the back log of tasks that have built up over the last 3.5 days from patients, nursing homes, pharmacies, hospitals, out of hours services, secondary care clinics and labs to name a few.... on top of dealing with new patient enquiries, secondary care information, appointments, results, referrals, prescription requests and 100's of pages of electronic mail etc all whilst navigating a new computer system.

Although we "go live" we still need time to process all of the above before being able to relay information to our patients.

We ask for your patience and understanding and thank you all for the same thus far!

First day of our new computer migration system completed and one more to go! Thanks to all our patients for their understanding and co-operation today! Reminder that we are closed on Monday for the bank holiday! We hope everyone has a restful weekend.

As per below post-due to our computer upgrades, any prescriptions ordered today after 12pm wont be at your pharmacy until Friday 29th August. If you run out of medication, you should speak to your pharmacy for an emergency supply. Thank you.

📢📢IMPORTANT NOTICE📢📢

We are upgrading our clinical computer system between Friday 22nd and Tuesday 26th August and will have extremely limited access to patients records.

Unfortunately this means we will be unable to action non-urgent repeat prescription requests!! Cut off time will be 12:00pm Thursday 21st August.

💊Please check NOW to ensure that you will have enough medication to last you over this period and if you do not, please request it now.

🩺We will be able to process requests again when the new system goes live on Wednesday 27th August 8:30am and they can be ordered via autoline and via prescriptions.z00388@gp.hscni.net in the normal way.

💻If you are a user of online services, please note that online services will be deactivated from Friday 15th August. You will need to order any prescriptions via the methods above and we will contact you over the coming weeks to re-register with our new online portal.

🔀Please share with family and friends who are patients of the surgery so that we can spread this message and minimise disruption to patients as much possible!

Between 15th July 2025 and 12th August 2025 we had 126 wasted appointments where patients DID NOT ATTEND their appointment with the doctor, treatment room or practice nurse. We simply cannot sustain this wasted resource when there are so many people in need. Please give us notice if you cannot make your appointment so we can offer it to others!
