A few case of patients suffering from
✅️Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS)✅️
is a common condition caused by pressure on the median nerve in the wrist, leading to numbness, tingling, weakness, and pain in the hand and fingers, often worse at night. It is caused by reduced space in the carpal tunnel, often triggered by repetitive activity, pregnancy, diabetes, or wrist injuries. Treatment involves splinting, exercise, medication, and, in severe, cases, surgery.
Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Tingling and Numbness: Usually in the thumb, index, middle, and ring fingers, but not the little finger.
Pain: Aching or pain in the hand, wrist, and sometimes shooting up the arm.
Weakness: Difficulty with fine motor tasks, holding objects, or dropping things.
Nocturnal Symptoms: Symptoms often appear at night, waking people from sleep, or first thing in the morning.
Causes and Risk Factors
CTS arises from increased pressure within the carpal tunnel, a narrow passage in the wrist. Risk factors include:
Repetitive Motion: Prolonged, repetitive, or forceful hand/wrist movements (e.g., typing, assembly line work).
Health Conditions: Diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, thyroid problems, and obesity.
Fluid Retention: Pregnancy and menopause.
Wrist Injury: Fractures or dislocations.
Demographics: More common in women and typically those over 40.
