Microsuction Ear Wax Removal Based at SW Podiatry and Health at Homeleigh Garden Centre, Launceston

Rachel qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2008, since then she has worked as a District Nurse, Emergency Department Nurse and more recently as an MIU Nurse Practitioner. She is very experienced with a numerous range of ear problems, from assessing and treating infections to syringing and removal of foreign bodies. Rachel has completed an accredited Aural Microsuction Training Course recommended by the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists and is fully insured.

Today is all about raising awareness of the importance of hearing health. Something that’s easy to take for granted until it’s affected.

Hearing connects us to conversations, laughter, music, and the people we love. Looking after it doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s as simple as having your ears checked if things feel blocked, protecting them from loud noise, and not ignoring changes.

Does microsuction hurt?

Short answer: no, most people find it comfortable. For some, it can make them cough due to the vibrations tickling your ears 🤣 but otherwise it's very gentle.

Microsuction is considered one of the safest, most effective methods for removing earwax, as it uses a microscope for direct visualisation, avoids water, and poses low risks of infection or trauma.
