Science of Sound Baths.

The soothing sound waves produced by the instruments are made up of tones and frequences that when acting on the body produce a calming, healing effect.
This relaxation response deactivates the sympathetic nervous system (fight and flight response) and instead activates the parasympathetic nervous system and stimulates the vagus nerve. These will slow the breath, lower the heart rate, decrease blood pressure, improve circulation, digestion, reduces anxiety and stress.

These sound vibrations will also guide your brainwaves from normal stress related BETA state to the deeper, relaxing ALPHA, THETA AND DELTA states. Its in these states where healing can take place.

How is Taoist Yoga different from the other forms of yoga?

I started my yoga training with the more common forms of Hatha, Vinyasa and Ashtanga but struggled with some of the extensions and bends. I found due to my physical structure certain poses were not possible, and after several injuries I started looking elsewhere.
Discovering Taoist (Daoist) yoga was a revelation and the ancient Chinese wisdom made alot of sense.
Taoist yoga is about harmonizing with the Tao or natural energy flow of life.

Taoist yoga can go from fluid, water like flows to the groundness of a tree, or the grace of a crane to the strength of a tiger.
Following natures elements and animal movements through slow, mindful movements and the breath you can tap into energies that improve your health and wellbeing.

Yin and Yang philosophy is key element of the practice helping you balance your practice through this eg inhale/exhale, extend/contract, active/relax

Wu Wei is another element translated as effortless action which is aligning yourself with the forces of the universe, being open to change rather than forcing things or pushing too hard.

These have all helped deepen my practice improving my mental/physical and spiritual health.

What is Taoist Yoga?
(Pronounced dowist) Sometimes called Tao Yin and Yin/Yang Yoga is an ancient practice developed in China that blends Indian Yoga with oriental health and healing practices. Slow, mindful movements along with breath regulation to stretch/open joints, meridians, fascia and tendons. It aims to improve the circulation of energy around the meridians and organs.

What is a Sound Bath?
Sometimes also called sound healing, sound therapy or sound journey. It is the use of sound instruments to produce harmonious vibrations or resonances that induce deep relaxation and healing on the physical, mental and spiritual/emotional levels.
The sound waves work to relax your nervous system, altering your brainwave patterns to allow your mind and body to relax and heal.

What is Mindfulness and Meditation?
Mindfulness is being fully present in the moment, becoming aware of thoughts, sensations and emotions as they arise without judgement. We can get easily caught up in the chatter of minds, mindfulness helps bring us into the here and now.
Meditation is the practice of using the breath to cultivate this mindfulness, calming the mind and relaxing the body.

Hi Im now offering Sound Baths and Mindfulness Meditation along with the usual Yoga/Qigong for your health and wellbeing as individual or combined packages one to one in your home or in groups.

These practices have helped me recover from physical injuries, overcome depression and manage stress and negative emotions. They are also great for just relaxation and taking time out.

Ive had a calling to work with these ancient healing methods since I was 17. This inspired me to travel to India to learn and develop my Meditation and Sound healing in 1999. Ive since trained at Daoist Yoga and Qigong with the Samye Ling Tibetan Buddhist Temple, Scotland, Shaolin Temple Europe, Germany and Yoga Teacher training at Yoga Kula, Leeds.

As we move into late summer and the earth element we leave behind the Yang Fire element and summer holiday time with all the changes and travel chaos that ensues. This is a good time now for getting back into an everyday routine, giving attention to your wellbeing and restoring balance.
Qi Yoga combines yoga streches to open the body with Qigong flows to energise, improve mobility and build strength. As well as calming the mind and relaxing your nervous system.
