Following the sad news of Queen Elizabeth's death please reach out if you need to talk. The country is in mourning and we can get through this together 😔💔

Grief work is never easy. You can feel in control one day and falling apart the next. This is completely normal and you shouldn't put to much pressure on yourself to be 'ok'.

If you would like to talk to someone about how your grief is affecting you please send us a message 🙂

Our next face to face bereavement group will be starting on Tuesday 22nd March (12.30 - 2.30).

There will be a maximum of 6 people in the group who will all have different experiences of bereavement, however you will all have your struggles in common.

The sessions will be based on group interactions and this enables the members to discuss their personal experiences, whilst also getting feedback and support from the other members. You will be provided with information about bereavement so that you will be confident in the knowledge that your experience is to be expected and is a ‘normal’ reaction.

We will be looking at what grief is and how you can manage the feelings that is brings up, coping strategies, how to react to the unhelpful things people might say and how to cope with anniversaries and special occasions.

Previous group members said that the group felt safe enough to discuss their struggles and emotions knowing that they would not be judged for the way they were feeling and the thoughts they were having.

If you would like to reserve a place or would like some further information please give Theresa a call on 07936 947776 or email theresataylor@brunswickhlc.org.uk

During grief, children can find it difficult to process their emotions and often don't want to upset the adults in their life.

In conjunction with Evelyn's Gift we have bags of books (and info for the adults) available at the hub to help them through the difficult times. This book is one of those included.

If you would like a bag of books and would like to talk to Theresa about how you can support children through grief, please get in touch by ringing 01926 422123 or email theresataylor@brunswickhlc.org.uk

This hardback activity book offers invaluable practical and sensitive support for bereaved younger children. Beautifully illustrated, it suggests a helpful series of activities and exercises…

If you need support coping with the initial loss and the other losses that go along side please get in touch with Theresa at the hub

Sadly, widows often have secondary losses too... as the landscape of your life alters so fundamentally when you lose your partner, many things change and alter too from the roots of losing your love. As well as the loss of future, dreams and hopes, identity and confidence there can be losses of your home, work and support systems too.

WAY Widowed and Young members have been there and understand what it feels like 💙 We know how hard it is to rebuild your life and WAY members help each other form new friendships, understanding and support as we rebuild together. Reach out for support 💙

Some people find Lois Tonkin’s ‘Growing around Grief’ metaphor helpful - is it something you can relate to?

The grief doesn't ever completely go away, and sometimes the feelings can be as intense as when someone first died. But in time the feelings come less often - we start to grow around our grief and the space it takes up is not as great 💛

Finally got round to watching Joey Essex: grief and me. If you haven't watched it, give it a go. Very honest and powerful. I see many people who push grief away and it comes back years later - I did it myself after I lost a very special person. Don't be afraid to reach out for help. I am here for anyone who needs to talk 💜💙

WALK IN CLINIC FOR ALL OVER 18s - SATURDAY 26TH JUNE

There has been a rise in COVID cases locally and it is more important now than ever to get vaccinated and to ensure you're following the Hands, Face, Space advice. We want to help keep local people safe and businesses open.

This Saturday we are running a walk in clinic for everyone aged 18 or over who has not yet had their first dose of the COVID vaccine. No appointment is needed, simply turn up at the Amaddiyhha Muslim Association (CV32 5AH) between 10am and 2pm for your vaccine.

We would be grateful if you could share this information with anyone you know who has not yet had their first vaccine.

Father's Day is very difficult for those who have lost their dad or another father figure. It can be hard to see all the posts celebrating fathers but remember you can still remember and send wishes to your dad too, even if he isn't able to respond.

What this day pushes me to remember and share are the little things about my dad, who he was, and what he did. It makes me want to share stories and anecdotes with the people who never met him.

Whether you're a dad who has lost a child, or a child who has lost a dad, Father's Day grief brings waves of emotion alongside cherished memories.
