💜 National Grief Awareness Week 💜
In this podcast episode I talk to my husband Bill about his experience of grief after the death of our son Matthew. Bill admits that he doesn’t like to talk about grief usually, but he felt inspired to share on this occasion after listening to other guests on my podcast.
Bill has not had any therapy and has decided to bury his grief in a box, in a big hole, covered in a thick layer of concrete. Bill’s advice for others though is to not do it like him! He uses dark humour to deal with most of life’s experiences and grief is no exception. It’s not a strategy I would condone but he says it works for him. Bill is dealing with grief in his own way and part of his strategy is to bury it. As a therapist I would never recommend this but it’s important to remember that we do not judge how other people grieve.
