Heathcote Holistics

Heathcote Holistics My name is Louise Bates and I am a Therapist, Author, and Podcaster with over 25 years of experience in the field of complementary therapy.

In April 2025, I retired from my therapy work to focus on my meditation classes, my podcast and grief work. My name is Louise Bates, and I am a retired therapist with over 25 years of experience in the field of complementary therapy. Author, and Podcaster

Throughout my career, I have provided a variety of treatments to my clients, drawing on my qualifications as a Reiki Master, Reflexologist, Aromatherapist, Crystal Therapist, Indian Head Masseuse, and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) Master Practitioner. In addition to EFT, I have received training in Matrix Reimprinting, TimelineEFT, PositiveEFT, NLP for Practitioners, NLP Coach, EMDR, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Time Line Therapy™, Hypnotherapy, and Mindfulness teaching, accredited by The British Psychological Society. I am also an EFT Grief Specialist and I have completed additional training with Cruse Bereavement. These techniques have not only benefited my clients, but they have also been instrumental in helping me navigate my own grief journey following the death of my son, Matthew, in 2016. In April 2025, I made the decision to retire my therapy business and focus solely on my bereavement work. With a wealth of experience and a diverse skill set, I am dedicated to supporting others in their grief journey with my books, blog, and podcast. Additionally, I continue to host monthly mindfulness meditation sound baths to provide a space for healing and reflection. I enjoy swimbles in freezing cold water, paddleboarding like I’m auditioning for a adventure film, and talking to my crystals like they pay rent. When I’m not elbow-deep in soil pretending I’m at one with the earth, you’ll find me scribbling down my thoughts in a journal or just loving life at a live music gig. I thrive on fresh air, deep chats, and being around people who understand the importance of both grounding yourself and charging your amethyst. I also believe in angels - so you get the picture!

💜 National Grief Awareness Week 💜
In this podcast episode I talk to my husband Bill about his experience of grief after the death of our son Matthew. Bill admits that he doesn’t like to talk about grief usually, but he felt inspired to share on this occasion after listening to other guests on my podcast.

Bill has not had any therapy and has decided to bury his grief in a box, in a big hole, covered in a thick layer of concrete. Bill’s advice for others though is to not do it like him! He uses dark humour to deal with most of life’s experiences and grief is no exception. It’s not a strategy I would condone but he says it works for him. Bill is dealing with grief in his own way and part of his strategy is to bury it. As a therapist I would never recommend this but it’s important to remember that we do not judge how other people grieve.

Today I am talking to my husband Bill about his experience of grief after the death of our son Matthew. Bill admits that he doesn’t like to talk about grief ...

💜 National Grief Awareness Week 💜
Christmas is a season wrapped in light, but for many of us, it also shines on the empty spaces, the faces we miss, the voices we long to hear again. Grief has a way of slipping into the quiet moments: the ornaments we don’t hang this year, the traditions that feel different now, the chair that stays empty at the table.

If this season feels heavy for you, you’re not alone. Missing someone is a sign of how deeply we loved them, and how much they shaped our world. It’s okay to laugh, to cry, to remember, or to simply breathe your way through the day. There’s no right way to feel during the festive season.

So as we move through this Christmas season, may we hold space for both the joy and the ache. May we honour the memories, cherish the love that remains, and be gentle with ourselves and each other. Grief may change us, but it also teaches us that the people we love never truly leave, they live on in our stories, our traditions, and the quiet corners of our hearts. https://youtu.be/OGcaYCtBauo?si=EoCzJZIC5p5WW0w3

As National Grief Awareness Week continues, I’m reminded of how deeply personal and varied our experiences with loss can be. Grief and depression often look similar, but they aren’t the same and understanding the difference can help us find the support we need.

I’ve written a blog - Grief Versus Depression - to gently explore how these two experiences overlap, how they differ, and why recognizing the distinction matters. If you or someone you love is navigating loss, I hope it brings clarity and comfort. 💜

If you or someone you know could use a bit of support, comfort, or connection, I’m sharing my podcast page from my website here. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey.

A Gift for Grief is a compassionate podcast for anyone navigating the pain of loss and seeking connection, comfort, and healing. Grief can feel isolating—but you are not alone.

💜National Grief Awareness Week (2nd–8th Dec) 💜
As we move into Christmas, a season filled with sparkly lights and laughter, it’s important to remember that not everyone feels bright this time of year. National Grief Awareness Week is a gentle reminder that the the festive season can be especially hard when you’re missing someone you love.

If you’re grieving, please know you’re not alone. Be kind to yourself, take things at your own pace, and reach out if you need support. And if someone you know is hurting, a small check-in can mean the world. 💛

I appreciate just how difficult this time of year can be for those missing their loved ones. My son Matthew died on the 28-10-2016 just two months before Chr...

Thank you to everyone who came along to my classes yesterday! These were my last sessions in the area before I pack up my crystals, yoga mats, and excessive number of sound instruments and head off to Wales. I’m going to miss our monthly meet ups.

The sign is down and it's an end of an adventure I started over 25 years ago - building my holistic business. I've loved every minute of it - and it's been hard to let it go.

Once I’m settled in Wales and have befriended a sheep or two, I’ll continue recording more podcast episodes. Until then, thank you - thank you - thank you - for all your support, your presence, and your brilliant energy. 💜

Our Story

Hi, my name is Louise Bates and I am passionate about supporting others to feel and be well.

I combine a collection of new cutting edge techniques and processes that integrate the most effective elements of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Neuro Linguistic programming (NLP), spiritual understanding, science and the mind’s great ability to transform itself. I am also a qualified mindfulness teacher.

The techniques I use help you to move forward in your life in a more positive way enabling you to release anxiety, panic attacks, fears, phobias and much much more.

We can work together on a 1-2-1 basis in my treatment room or through Skype, Facetime or Zoom. This enables us to work together wherever you are in the world. If you would like to clear any of your issues, or if you would like to learn more about the incredible techniques I use, contact me today and arrange a FREE 30 minute consultation. I also offer a wide range of complementary therapies. These therapies promote relaxation which is perhaps the most important key to your health and well-being. When you are completely relaxed your own natural healing mechanism is more active. Contact me today!
