This , we would like to show our gratitude for the superb men who make up Porthaven Care Homes.

We couldn't do what we do without the intelligent, kind, professional, supportive, amusing and passionate men who make up our teams across the country. And, of course, where would we be without our marvellous residents, whose life stories never fail to inspire and surprise us 💙

We have had our first snow of the season today here at Hartfield House.😊🎄

Chester, who likes to visit us, enjoyed playing in the snow. At only twelve weeks old, it was the first snow he had seen.❄️

This World Diabetes Day, Diabetes UK are challenging the stigma surrounding diabetes and encouraging people to reflect on how they talk about the condition.

Diabetes UK found that, across the UK, over 8 in 10 people with type 1 and over 7 in 10 people with type 2 diabetes say they experience blame and judgement for their condition. It is important that we are all conscious of how the things we say impact others, because our words matter. Together, we can and help improve the lives of those living with diabetes.

We have been very busy this week at Hartfield House, preparing all of the ingredients for our Christmas cake.🍰

Renate was in charge of measuring the brandy and she was very precise!🫗We combined all the dried fruit in a large bowl, then poured the liquid over the fruit along with the spices and citrus zest.🍋We have now covered the bowl and have left it to soak; this can be overnight or for a month.🗓️We stir the mixture daily/weekly to ensure it absorbs the liquid and plumps up the fruit.

We are all waiting in anticipation to eat it!😊

Our Hartfield House residents attended Micklham Church remembrance service and laid a wreath on behalf of our home.

Barbara is in the choir at the church, and she proudly wears her father's medals, which he was awarded after spending three years in a POW camp in Asia.

To mark Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, our residents have taken part in memorial services across the country to honour those who served and continue to serve our country. For many of our residents, these dates hold personal significance and provide the opportunity to not only honour their own past, loved ones and friends, but also share memories of such an important part of their lives.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

Lest we forget ❤️
