Reiki is a spiritual practice & an energy healing system originating in Japan. Reiki treatments are performed by the practitioner laying hands on or off the body, facilitating and boosting the recipients own natural healing capabilities, by focusing energy into both the physical body and energetic field. Reiki aims to work on four levels; the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. All courses and treatments are led by Usui Reiki teacher Amanda White. The traditional Usui Reiki Courses incorporate a combination of both Western and Eastern teachings of the method of Reiki, and aim to teach students techniques from both aspects with an emphasis on the Eastern meditative, philosophical and mindful perspective.

This month I wanted to highlight some wisdoms within shintoism (the original religion of Japan before Buddhism arrived). We may see many shinto influences within the eastern methods and philosophies of reiki. Much within shintoism relates to nature and Kami worship (the spiritual energies or nature spirits in the natural world) and purification rituals. Practitioners aim to live harmoniously with nature. It is a Shinto concept that humans are the connection between heaven and earth energies.

Understanding these influences can help practitioners understand how we may live more harmoniously also.

Our Story

Reiki is such a wonderful and easy spiritual method to learn and can be learned by anyone. We all have the capability to access this innate ability. Many people learn Reiki just for themselves and their loved ones, but these courses will also teach how to practice professionally after students have gained their Reiki 2 certification. The Shinpiden courses will provide students with the tools to become a Master/Teacher practitioner and find a deep awareness of the system and of reiki enabling those who wish to to pass this knowledge to others.

All courses at the Usui Reiki Academy Surrey, fully comply with the Core Curriculum of Reiki set by the Reiki Council and are within the guidelines of National Occupational Standards.
