Hands on in a different way last week..

A few hours teaching and hopefully inspiring the next generation of pony mad kids at mini camp.

Using chalk is a great way to visualise points of the horse and super safe and non toxic to the horse.

Body issues in horses can be complex with multiple sources, but here's a pattern I see over and over.

Hoof and body problems have a circular effect, both worsening or improving. Inappropriate loading from above helps to flatten the heels, while underruning heels stresses tissue by misaligning all the joints above...

Our aim is, of course, to create a positive spiral of improvement by helping everywhere we can. One thing is sure though: those hooves need to be helped back into balance first and achieving that requires a lot of skills from the hoofcare practitioner.

Arrived to see special boy Smokey yesterday and he was already fast asleep. Felt horrible waking him up for his maintenance treatment but he went straight back to sleep after. So proud of the progress they continue to make and it hasn’t been the easiest but they persevere every step of the way 💙

I simply love my job and what I do. Getting messages like this one just makes my day 💙

Some days are great and some are tougher than others. One day you might have a horse that just won’t let you in fully. But small steps and making small changes each visit adds to the over all picture.

Apparently I’m useful as a head rest too 😂😂

I like to take a step back during a treatment and let the horse process what’s happening and allowing the relaxation to happen in their own time.

Some subtle signs of relaxation and tension release can include
💠soft eye movements and blinking
💠relaxed posture
💠a loose lower lip, yawning and tongue movement
💠changes in breath
