Today, to mark , we decided to do something a little different here at Deer Park Care Home, Ledbury, as we embarked on a tasting journey around the four continents of Africa, America, Asia, and Europe. 🌍

Throughout the afternoon our residents, their families and friends, staff and the wider community sampled local delicacies from each of these continents, skillfully prepared by our talented chefs. πŸ²πŸ±πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³

And to make the event complete, we were entertained by popular singer/song-writer Karen Bates, V for Vintage Vocals, who performed songs from each continent and had us up dancing to some classic tunes. πŸŽ€πŸ’ƒ πŸ•Ί

A great time was had by all and we look forward to welcoming Karen back to Deer Park very soon.

This afternoon we were delighted to welcome Jazmine Horsfall, Head of Collections at Museum of Fashion Malvern CIC, who gave an interesting and informative talk to our residents about the exciting plans for this new museum.

Jazmine explained how it aims to celebrate the town's rich history in the world of fashion and will feature a permanent display focusing on existing and long-gone Malvern fashion houses, such as Cox's, Brays and Warwick House. πŸ‘šπŸ‘—πŸ§€

The museum plans to host exhibitions, talks and workshops throughout the year, and aims to be the most comprehensive fashion research library outside of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and Fashion Museum Bath.

Jazmine also brought some vintage garments and magazines dating back from the 1920s to 1950s for us to look at, which provided a great opportunity for our residents to reminisce and share their wonderful stories. πŸ“–

Many of our ladies and gents are keen and curious and always look forward to any opportunity they can to connect with nature, in both our local area and further afield.

So we were delighted to treat Jean, Jane, Mary and Nigel to a tropical trip out to Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo, where they walked and talked amongst exotic butterflies from around the world. πŸ¦‹ πŸ›

They were in their element as they got to see butterflies up close using large magnifying glasses, πŸ” learn about the many varieties of these incredible winged creatures and complete the outing with a cuppa and homemade cake in IzzysCafe! β˜•πŸ§
