We are excited to announce that Kathy Wood has recently completed some additional training in Reflexology for the Menopause and can now offer Reflexology sessions tailored to specifically help people at this stage in their life.
Whether you are already using HRT or trying to approach this stage in your life without medical intervention, this treatment can help.
At peri-menopause and menopause (usually around age 40 upwards) reflexology works by helping to regulate the hormones in the body. It can help to alleviate and balance both the physical and emotional systems. By working with the hypothalamus and pituitary, reflexology can help to restore balance to the endocrine system. This in turn therefore can alleviate menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, sleep disturbance, joint pain and anxiety.
Research carried out at the UK School of Complementary Health in Exeter indicates a marked decrease in anxiety, depression, insomnia, hot flushes and night sweats among menopausal women who received regular reflexology over a 4 month period.

Some advice about... working from home from Gillian (Massage Therapist). I'm finding that many clients I'm currently seeing are struggling with neck and back pain from working from home during the pandemic. This link has some good stretches for you to attempt if you are also experiencing these aches and pains. As with any exercise please do take care and listen to your body. This is the story of how Headingley Wellbeing Centre came into being... Kathy (Butterfly Wellbeing and Gillian (Calico Massage) met in 2015 whilst working together offering treatments at a children’s cancer charity and sharing a love for what they were doing and quickly became firm friends! When Gillian visited Kathy at her clinic in Headingley she decided it would be the perfect place for her to work from and joined Kathy there shortly after. In 2020 a room became available at the Clinic and Kathy met with June (June Mitchell Integrative Therapy & Coaching) who was looking for a change of scene for her and her clients. June’s professional reputation had preceded her so Kathy was delighted to welcome her to join the team. The centre was complete and we can't wait to welcome you to it!
