Self-loathing isn’t born from weakness though. It’s often the residue of old wounds, expectations you bent yourself to meet, love you had to earn and mistakes you were never allowed to outgrow. Over time you learn to target the same harshness against yourself that the world once showed you. You become both the hurt one and the one punishing yourself too.
Beneath even the deepest self-disgust there is always a quieter voice when you dig for it. The part of you that still hopes for softness, even if you don’t believe you deserve it. That small voice isn’t naïve it’s a survivor!
Real healing begins when you let that voice speak. Not to cancel the darkness but to remind you that you are more than the parts of yourself you’ve learned to hate.
