A Weekend of Laughter & Energy at Ghyll Royd! 🎲🏃‍♀️

We’ve had a brilliant few days filled with smiles and activity!

The ladies took centre stage on Saturday morning with a competitive Dominoes Tournament, followed by a lovely social lunch. In the afternoon, we tested our wits with General Knowledge and Picture Quizzes before settling in for some Mr Bean. The lounge was filled with fits of laughter from residents and families alike!

Sunday was all about fitness! We held our exercise classes, and we were blown away by our residents’ stamina—working out for well over an hour!

Well done to everyone involved for making it such a vibrant weekend.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Ghyll Royd Community ❤️

As we settle into the New Year, we wanted to take a moment to look back and share our sincere gratitude for the beautiful cards and messages we received over the festive period.

It has been truly moving to hear from so many families, both past and present. At Ghyll Royd, we often say that once you join us, you remain a part of our family forever, and it means the world to our staff to know that they stay in your thoughts.

Reading your kind comments has brought so much warmth to the home. We were touched by messages thanking the team for their "kindness, attentiveness, gentleness and support," and by those who noted that "such devotion makes a huge difference at a very trying time and is not forgotten." One family shared that "words cannot express the immense gratitude" they felt for the dignified care provided, while another lovely note simply said, "We have loved being a part of the Beech family—we miss you all."

To everyone who took the time to reach out: thank you. Your appreciation and support are what make Ghyll Royd such a special community to be a part of. We are so grateful that you continue to be a part of our story.

What a lively few days we’ve had at Ghyll Royd! 🌟 On Wednesday, the amazing Hayley Walsh filled the lounge with music, getting everyone clapping and tapping their feet. The fun continued yesterday morning with an impromptu sing-along led by our care staff, followed by an energetic session of armchair Zumba that brought out some fantastic rhythm and big smiles! To top it all off, we held our ever-popular Dominoes Championship in the afternoon, with a huge congratulations to our winner—one of our new residents on Blossom! 🏆🎶💃

🌟 Fun & Fitness at Ghyll Royd! 🌟

Yesterday was a fantastic day for our residents!

We started the morning with some refreshing stretching and posture exercises 🙆‍♀️, followed by a much-needed tea break. The energy stayed high as we moved on to a very competitive and well-played game of boules!

After lunch, we were treated to a brilliant performance by Tom & Bob. As always, their music was a huge hit and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. 🎤🎸

A massive thank you to Tom and Bob for the amazing entertainment!

Last month Michelle and Nigel were our final stars of 2025, with Michelle taking the winning spot following a glistening nomination from a relative who heard Michelle singing with a resident whilst they were having a bath. The relative commented on how she later saw the resident when they left the bathroom with a big smile on their face. Thank you Michelle for delivering such truly heartfelt care.

Nigel came in as a close runner up for his willingness to always help out, go the extra mile, and support his colleagues.

We’ve had the most wonderful morning here at Ghyll Royd Care Home with the brilliant ‘Sing For Joy’ led by James! 🎶✨

These interactive sessions are specifically designed for those living with dementia, and it was heart-warming to see so many of our residents engaging and enjoying the music. We were all incredibly impressed by James’ memory—he kicked off the session with a welcome song that included every single person’s name! 🎤🙌

The lounge was filled with music as we sang along to some timeless classics, including a beautiful rendition of ‘Morning Has Broken’ by Cat Stevens. It was a fantastic way to start the day, filled with smiles and shared memories.

A huge thank you to James for bringing such joy to our home today!

🌟 A Busy Saturday at Ghyll Royd! 🌟

We had a wonderful start to the weekend here at Ghyll Royd Care Home. On Saturday, our team made sure to visit every resident whilst handing out our new activity schedules to ensure everyone is kept in the loop with all the fun we have planned.

The morning began with some fantastic specialised exercises focusing on limited mobility to keep everyone moving and feeling their best. This was followed by a spirited game of Carpet Bowls which certainly brought out everyone’s competitive side! We also took a lovely trip down memory lane with our "Grandma’s House" picture quiz, sharing stories about all the nostalgic items from years gone by.

To top off a brilliant day, we all came together to celebrate a very special birthday with plenty of smiles and cheers. It was a joy to see such a great community spirit throughout the home.

While it looks lovely outside, it is quite slippery underfoot. If you are planning on visiting us today, please do take extra care on your journey.
