🤩 What a Week at Ghyll Royd! Music, Mrs Claus, and Festive Fun! 🎄

We've had a whirlwind seven days packed with music, community visitors, and Christmas cheer!

Our week was filled with song: starting on Monday with James's brilliant Sing for Joy session and followed by a grand performance from Molly Imogen!

Tuesday was truly magical! We had heartwarming visits from the wonderful children of Bright Skies Nursery and a very special appearance from Mrs Claus 🤶, who gave out presents! The afternoon brought lively music from Melody Reed, and our evening finished with a visit from the Beavers Troop who entertained us with campfire and Christmas songs. Thank you for the gifts 🎁 and the thoughtful knitted hearts ♥️!

Wednesday saw us getting into the spirit with Oona's lively Christmas session, complete with ribbons, bells, and festive songs!

Yesterday, we welcomed the second group from Bright Skies Nursery to meet Mrs Claus 🤶, followed by a Big Christmas Quiz in the afternoon that was a huge hit!

It's been a fantastic week of festive engagement for all our residents!

We had a wonderful Wellbeing Wednesday yesterday for our amazing staff team. We enjoyed some snacks, gratitude bags, games, Christmas card competition and even some impromptu yoga! We can’t wait for the next one!

🌟 Shining Stars of November 🌟

It's time to celebrate the outstanding dedication of our team with the announcement of the November Star Award winners! Their commitment to our home and residents is truly inspiring.

A massive congratulations goes to our well-deserved winner:

👑 Karen
Karen took the top spot after receiving an incredible amount of nominations praising her fantastic approach. She is known for her friendly, welcoming nature and the unwavering support she offers to everyone. Her nominators said that nothing is ever too much for Karen, and she is always there to help and support anyone who needs her. Thank you, Karen, for your incredible spirit!

We also want to shine a light on our exceptional Runners-Up. Congratulations to Dawn, who was nominated for always being there to welcome everyone to the home with a genuine, smiling face. Her willingness to help is boundless. Likewise, Ellia was recognised for consistently demonstrating commendable character, particularly towards our residents. Her colleagues love working with her because she ensures everyone shares the workload and truly deserves this recognition for her efforts.

🔔 Update on the Westfield Junior School Carol Concert Visit 🎄
We wanted to share a quick update on the visit planned for today.

Unfortunately, the Westfield Junior School students weren't able to visit us today for their Christmas Carol performance. We apologise for the inconvenience and for the late notice.

🌟 The GOOD News is: We have a new date! 🌟

The wonderful students and staff have already been in touch and have happily re-scheduled their visit! They will now be performing for us on 19th December at 1.45 pm.

We hope everyone can still join us in the lounge for a lovely festive performance!

🌟 Festive Fun at Ghyll Royd! 🎄

What a fantastic and festive week we've had at Ghyll Royd Care Home!

The Christmas spirit is in full swing after putting up our decorations and competing in the Spellman Care Christmas Cake Competition at Steeton Court! 🎂

We also squeezed in lots of fun activities! On Monday, we started with news and 'Play Your Cards Right,' then our 'Ghyll Royd Sings' session included our first Christmas songs! 🎶 Tuesday saw us hosting an Exercise and Carpet Boules Championship, followed by a wonderful Advent Service with Jean from Guiseley Methodist Church. 🙏 And on Wednesday, we welcomed Oona for a workout that included moving to some great festive tunes! 💪

We are loving every minute of this wonderful time of year!
