🎶 Shaking things up this week at Ghyll Royd!

We’re hitting "pause" on our usual activity schedule this week to make room for some very special guests.

✨ Sunday @ 2pm: In place of our regular Sunday activities, we are thrilled to welcome the fantastic Hayley J Walsh!

✨ Tuesday @ 2pm: Trading our Tuesday routine for a performance by the amazing Craig Carlisle!

It’s been a week full of music, laughter, and special guests here at Ghyll Royd Care Home! 🌼

We were delighted to welcome the wonderful children from Bright Skies Nursery for two heartwarming Easter performances this week. Their singing brought so much joy and smiles to our residents, and we even had a surprise visit from Mr. Fox in the garden! (Keep an eye out for our separate post!) 🦊🎶

Our residents have stayed busy with plenty of activities, from crafting bird feeders during the cold snap to a high-energy Drum Fit cardio workout. We also enjoyed some friendly competition with carpet boules and our weekly Dominoes Championship. A huge congratulations to Blossom, who took home the trophy this week! 🏆🌸

We wrapped up the celebrations with a lovely afternoon tea and a birthday sing-along for one of our residents. It’s been a truly wonderful few days. 🎂✨

We had a wonderful, reflective start to the week here at Ghyll Royd Care Home yesterday. 🕊️

The morning began with a lovely gathering for our church service, providing a peaceful space for everyone to come together. We followed this with a good catch-up on all our latest activity news, sharing what’s been happening around the home. ⛪️✨

After lunch, the creativity really started to flow! We spent the afternoon making Easter cards, which sparked some fantastic discussions. It was a joy to hear everyone’s memories and thoughts surrounding Easter as we got stuck into our designs. 🐣🎨

We always make sure our residents have exactly what they fancy, too. One of our ladies wasn't feeling her usual tea, but instead had a real craving for sliced tomatoes and bread with a sprinkle of salt and a drizzle of olive oil. It looked absolutely delicious and was exactly what she needed! 🍅😋

What a lovely way to end the week at Ghyll Royd Care Home! 🌟

We started things off on a high note on Friday when we were joined by the wonderful children from . It was such a treat to have them here! We spent the morning diving into some classic games, including a very competitive round of Play Your Cards Right and some brilliant games of dominoes. 🃏🀄 After all that excitement, we enjoyed a well-deserved break with some refreshments, which gave our residents and the children a fantastic opportunity to sit down and have a good old natter. Thank you so much for joining us, everyone—you were an absolute pleasure to have! 😊

Our Sunday was just as busy and full of smiles. We kicked off the morning with some interactive fun on the Tiny Tablets, followed by a productive afternoon hand-delivering our upcoming schedules to make sure we caught up with everyone. To finish the day on a peaceful note, we enjoyed some relaxing hand massages, leaving us all feeling refreshed and ready for the week ahead. ✨

It has been a lively and heart-warming time at Ghyll Royd Care Home recently! 🐾

Yesterday morning, we kicked things off with a resident-requested session of "Bongo Bingo." It was a fantastic, fun-filled morning as we all got creative, rhyming our very own "bingo lingo" and sharing plenty of laughs together. 🎶🔢

In the afternoon, we held a productive meeting for our residents and their families. Meanwhile, a few of our residents headed out for a stroll around the retail park. They had a wonderful time browsing the gardening aisles, testing out new perfumes, and looking through the latest books. The trip was rounded off perfectly with a coffee at the newly refurbished McDonald's. ☕️🌸

We also had a very special four-legged visitor! This gorgeous dog came to see a resident and ended up doing the rounds to say hello to everyone. His cheeky face and clever paw-shaking certainly won over a lot of hearts – he truly is a star! 🐶✨

Holy guacamole! Things heated up today at Ghyll Royd Care Home as our 'Taste of the World' series took us on a vibrant trip to Mexico 🇲🇽 🌮

Our conservatory was transformed into a Mexican-themed cafe, filled with incredible aromas and even better flavours. For the main event, our residents chose between sizzling chicken fajitas and a classic, comforting chilli con carne, both served alongside seasoned Mexican-style rice 🌯 For those looking for something a bit lighter and zestier, we also had a beautiful, fresh Mexican Ceviche on the menu 🦐🥗

No fiesta is complete without something sweet to finish. Our kitchen team outdid themselves with a delicious homemade Tres Leches Cake, topped with plenty of whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon 🍰

It was such a joy to see everyone exploring these international flavours together today. Stay tuned to see where our taste buds take us next 🌵✨

Happy Belated St. Patrick’s Day from Ghyll Royd Care Home! ☘️

Yesterday was a wonderful celebration filled with music, laughter, and fantastic food. We started the morning with some lively exercises to Irish tunes—plenty of jig-style movements to get everyone moving! The music continued through a very competitive game of boules, which ended with some very happy joint winners 🏆

Our kitchen team prepared a spectacular themed menu that was a hit all day long. For lunch, residents enjoyed a choice of Irish Stew, Seafood Chowder, or Potato Cake with spring onion mash and Guinness gravy, followed by apple crumble sponge with whiskey custard 🍻

The treats didn't stop there! Afternoon tea featured homemade Guinness porter cake and Irish Cream fudge while we were entertained by Tom and Bob, who performed some special Irish classics 🍰

We finished the day with a traditional Dublin Coddle and soda bread, Irish Cream cheesecake, and a supper of potato cakes and Barmbrack 🧁😋

It was a joy to see everyone enjoying these traditional flavours and making wonderful memories. 🇮🇪✨

It was a pleasure to visit Memory Lane Care Center this afternoon for their 10th birthday celebrations. 🎉

Congratulations to their whole team and community for this fantastic achievement! 🎂

It was great to learn more about what Ghyll Royd and Memory Lane share in common - the sense of family on which we are both built ❤️🏡
