🌟 Weekend Round-up at Ghyll Royd Care Home! 🌟

It was a special weekend of reflection and community here!

On Saturday, we started with a fun resident-led quiz show before gathering for a lovely Remembrance lunch in the conservatory, followed by a quiet cup of tea to reflect.

Sunday saw us holding our peaceful Church service and Hymns around the home. We were also incredibly proud of a generous donation to our Present Appeal from one of our own residents, ensuring babies receive a lovely Christmas gift. A true act of kindness!

Busy Day at Ghyll Royd! 💐🛍️

Yesterday was packed with fun activities!

We started the morning with a lively boogie workout 🎵🎶 followed by our competitive boules tournament!

In the afternoon, we refreshed our lovely table flowers and headed out for a shopping trip to Guiseley Morrisons. We managed to take a peek at the Christmas aisle before enjoying a lovely coffee ☕ and catch-up in the café with a resident’s daughter.

A great day of fitness, beauty, and festive shopping!

🎉 Celebrating a Birthday & Our Amazing Team at Ghyll Royd! 🍎

What a wonderful couple of days it's been at Ghyll Royd Care Home!

On Tuesday, we celebrated a very special birthday for one of our cherished residents. They truly light up our home, and we all enjoyed marking the occasion with cake and cheer! 🎂

And yesterday was our brilliant Wellbeing Wednesday for staff! We truly believe that by looking after our incredible team, we are equipping them to best look after our residents. Our autumn-themed fun included classic apple bobbing and the hilarious challenge of dangling doughnuts! 🍩

🌹 Remembering Their Sacrifice at Ghyll Royd

This morning, we paused at Ghyll Royd Care Home for a moving Remembrance Service to honour the brave men and women who gave their lives defending the freedoms we cherish today.

It was truly poignant to see our residents, their relatives, and staff come together to take this moment of solemn reflection.

A particularly touching moment came as one of our residents laid a beautiful wreath at the base of our Poppy Tree. We are so grateful to the local community for their generous contributions of knitted poppies, which make this annual tribute so special and heartfelt.

We will not forget.

We're overwhelmed with gratitude to each of you who generously donated knitted poppies to our remembrance poppy tree! 🙏 Building on the incredible support from our community, we're thrilled to introduce another chance to make a difference... 💫

We're calling on our local crafty angels to create pairs of handmade, matching hearts (knitted or crocheted) to bring solace to our residents nearing the end of their lives. One heart will be a heartfelt gift to the resident, while the matching heart will be a cherished keepsake for their loved ones. A Weekend of Fun, Fellowship, and Remembrance at Ghyll Royd 🏡

Our residents at Ghyll Royd Care Home enjoyed a wonderful weekend, blending fun and reflection for our Remembrance events.

On Saturday afternoon, the competitive spirit was alive and well for our games afternoon! We had great fun with classics like Scrabble, Snakes and Ladders, and Ludo, which certainly proved to be full of drama and laughs!

The fun continued into the evening for our Saturday Night Soirée. Residents settled in for a sophisticated spread of wine, cheese, and biscuits, all accompanied by a beautiful wartime sing-a-long. It was a lovely, moving way to start our weekend of remembrance.

Yesterday, everyone gathered for the Remembrance TV Service. It was an important moment for us all to pause, remember, and reflect. We paid our sincere respects to the fallen during the Two Minutes' Silence, honouring their sacrifices.

Our commemorations will continue tomorrow, on Remembrance Day, when we will gather for a special moment of silence at our Poppy Tree, followed by a performance by the talented D-Day Dollies.

We cherish these opportunities to come together as a community, both for celebration and for solemn reflection.

We hope everyone had a fantastic Guy Fawkes Night! 🎇

Here at Ghyll Royd, our residents enjoyed their very own fireworks display, complete with Pie and Peas and a toasty digital bonfire!

A huge thank you to the brilliant Bobby for putting on such a treat!

Which firework was your favourite? The Catherine wheel was definitely ours!🎇

Following the delightful display on Wednesday night, yesterday our residents loved staying festive with a trip out to Otley Garden Centre to take in the Christmas displays. But not without enjoying a cuppa in the cafe! And who can forget the amazing pre-bonfire Gentleman's Lunch our activity team put on in the conservatory at the weekend - it was a real treat! 😋

What a truly wonderful close to last week we had at Ghyll Royd! On Friday, our residents were thrilled by a special visit from our Halloween hot chocolate trolley. It was fully loaded with delicious toppings and plenty of spooky treats, providing the perfect cosy and sweet start to the weekend 🍫🎃.

The start of this week brought reflection and community. Yesterday, we were so pleased to welcome Jean from the Methodist Church for a peaceful service. We shared a thoughtful conversation about Saints and had a poignant moment lighting candles 🕯 in loving memory of lost family, friends, pets, and all those lost in wars, concluding the service by singing hymns and sharing a time of prayer 🙏.

Later, our spirits lifted for a joyful celebration! Residents gathered to sing 'Happy Birthday' 🎂 to our lovely Debs, followed by a fun-filled session of Ghyll Royd Sings, featuring some of the best classics and golden oldies 🎶.
