Today we celebrate children in need and the wonderful things this charity help towards. Tune in to BBC tonight 7pm - 10pm to see the amazing challenges that have been done by people from across the UK.

Who are Children in Need & What do they do?

At BBC Children in Need, we fund vital support for children and young people struggling with challenges caused by mental health, poverty, social inequality and family-related issues & Thanks to our brilliant supporters, partners and fundraisers, we’re able to work hard to provide the best possible support for children and young people.
That includes being the UK’s largest independent funder of youth work. Through the youth clubs we fund, young people have access to safe spaces, hot food, nurturing friendships and the support and encouragement they need to thrive.

We fund this vital work because we believe that every child and young person should have the chance to thrive and be the best they can be.

"On Armistice Day we invite the nation to pause for a two-minute silence, and reflect on the service and sacrifices the Armed Forces make on our behalf.
Armistice Day has been observed every year since 1919 with a two-minute silence. Held each year at 11am on 11 November, the silence coincides with the time in 1918 at which the First World War came to an end and is observed at war memorials and in public places throughout the UK and Commonwealth."

We observe a Two Minute silence on Armistice Day. At the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month – we will remember them.

Remembrance Sunday 🌺
The National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in London is held on Remembrance Sunday, the second Sunday in November.

The service is attended by senior members of the Royal Family, including His Majesty The King, HM Government and features a March Past involving 10,000 veterans.

Remembrance Sunday is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.

🟡🔵🔴 CHILDREN IN NEED UPDATE - 1 WEEK TO GO 🔴🔵🟡

As we have mentioned, Hawthorn Surgery staff are coming together to complete challenges to help raise money for Children in Need.

We have had 25 buns made 🧁
We have had a 25km walk accompanied with a furry friend 🐾🚶🏼‍♀️
We have even had 25 golf balls hit on a driving range 🏌️‍♀️⛳

& there is still plenty of time for more challenges from the staff.
We have already managed to raise some wonderful donations to go towards such a good cause.

We are proud to be a Armed Forces Veteran Friendly GP Surgery.


This Remembrance Day, we encourage all GP practices to become Veteran Friendly Accredited to support veterans who may be silently struggling with their mental or physical health at this potentially challenging time.

Research by the Royal College of GPs involving 5,000 veterans found that, although more than half (55%) have experienced health issues potentially related to their service, one in seven (14%) have not sought help from a healthcare professional.

However, nearly two-thirds of veterans said they would be more likely to seek help if they knew their practice was Veteran Friendly Accredited. Having taken the quick and easy step to become accredited ourselves, we have seen first-hand the difference it can make.
