See Ya Laterz. (tw) pregnancy.

And just like that....I finished my last treatment as a mum of one.

is still open for business, has a gorgeous offering and you can catch her there most of the week plus we have some pop-ups lined up - first from at the end of the month.

If you're a therapist and want to use a gorgeously cosy, quiet and affordable space in Chapel A, please get in touch because we still have some regular days and pop - ups available.

With our next little girls arrival imminent and a whole world of SPD pain I've made the call to finish my treatments a little bit earlier than planned and to (try to) take some rest. Omg I'm so tired.

I finished off last night with a two hour session for another tired mum of two, which feels quite fitting.

It's not long till I pop now, so you probably won't be hearing much from me until I'm ready to come back, have a cheeky refocus and do some treatments here and there.

Hoping to come back to my table and you lovely people in Autumn 🍂🍁

In the meantime - drop any positive birth experiences into my inbox 👀.

Have you been looking for an alternative to NCT?

I've been beavering away planning my pregnancy yoga classes, my in-person classes are a little different as they're designed to be a wee social club for mums to be.

Thrive pregnancy yoga is coming to Headingley in September 2021. Yay! You can expect soft easy movement, an introduction to birthing breath, guided relaxation and time to connect with your mind and your baby. Aside from the benefits of yoga these classes are designed to help you build connections and make friends with other local mums.

The active part of the class is 45 mins long and designed for second and third trimester, the final 15 minutes is to share, connect and support each other and build those incredibly important friendships. The aim is to increase freedom of movement and ease aches, reduce cortisol (stress) levels and help you connect your body and mind to the life you are nurturing.

The classes are kept small and organised by trimester they are also booked in blocks of 6 so that you see the same faces each week. All pregnancy yoga mums are then given early bird access to book onto mum and baby together, to continue to nurture the friendships you make in pregnancy once your child is here.

The friendships I made via NCT were invaluable but the classes were a bit 🦖 these classes aim to make it more accessible for modern mums to build friendships and prepare for labour without the hefty price tag and prehistoric expectations of labour and motherhood. Soz NCT.

To book onto my free trial class to get a feel for me and the classes head to the link on my bio.

P O S T C O V I D W E L L N E S S U P D A T E

Oh hey! It's me, Ella. I just wanted to pop on and say hello, I have been super slow on the insta feed lately and I'll tell you for why my love.

I've just been enjoying myself. This little work life balance I've managed to create AT LONG LAST. It's still pretty hectic over here but everything has slowed down a touch so I can just enjoy the fruits of my labour. I've got lots of lovely regular clients, a yoga class I've really settled into and Luna is in nursery three whole days a week meaning I'm not juggling full time work around her so much. And breathe.

I think a lot of therapists and people in the wellness industry are burning out rn. I know I've been on the brink a few times this past year. I'm surprised I've not gone grey. It's a really odd time, as an industry we've spent months out of work scrabbling to get by, inventing new ways to make money and then the world opened back up and noone came. It was weird. Yoga classes were quiet, massage was quiet, the wellness world was quiet. We thought it was over but we've spent the last few months scrabbling again, as a small business each time you market your services you put a small piece of your soul out there. It's hard. It's been long.

For a lot of my colleagues, the exhaustion of the last year of dragging a business through a pandemic has caught up with them just as we're getting to the other side. Our surge capacity has overflowed and a lot of us have fallen out of love with our craft.

So this is why I've decided to change things up a bit. From September Thrive will evolve into something a little different, with a few new tricks up my sleeve and grand plans for the future. Watch this space.

I need to do more. My mission when I created Thrive was to create a safe space, wether on the mat or in my therapy room. A space free from judgment where you can thrive in your truest form.

My dharma is to help people feel included, loved, well and valued. I believe I'm slowly getting there, but there is still much work to be done by me and my industry. The wellness industry is wildly dominated by cis white women, myself included, and therefore it can feel like an exclusive club - of which I've felt an outsider of at times. I look around the room in my classes and in my therapy room and I know I'm not reaching every body.

Are you part of the LGBTQ community in Leeds? Are you, or do you know someone transitioning? Can you give advice on how we can be actively more inclusive and welcoming to all bodies and identities within the wellness industry?

I don't believe this is advice should be given for free so I'm offering a skill swap - free treatments in exchange for your valued wisdom 🌞🦄🏳️‍🌈.

Lorra love - Ella 🥰

"Yoga is having a say over the modulations or tendencies of the mind."

- Patañjali Yoga Sutra 1.2

Happy international yoga day all!

Today I thought I'd share with you my journey into yoga.

I first dipped my toes into yoga in Chang Mai in a Thai class in 2012, I lack any natural flexibility so safe to say this class was a shock to the system but even so I LOVED it. It was the first time in my life I'd connected my body and my mind and I instantly felt better.

I continued with a irregular practice when I moved back home but it wasn't until I had a mental breakdown in 2015 that I realised the true power of yoga. My breakdown had left me in pieces, getting out of bed and dressed was too much to bare. Just before I broke I'd downloaded a daily yoga app. Each day I started to just get out of bed and still in my PJs do 7 minutes of yoga, then get back under the duvet. That 7 minutes turned into 20 and then 40 and then an hour, or even two sessions a day. It was my saviour, it helped me slow down, to breathe again and bit by bit saved my life.

The physical practice of yoga for me will always be secondary to the mental. Just by being present on the mat and connecting with your body does no end of healing. Yoga obz is an amazing tool to improve your physique but at it's very core its intention is to create equalibrium of the mind and in the west that can get lost among all this beach body BS. Every body is already a yoga body.

The west has stripped so much of true yoga away till in some forms it is barely recognisable from its authentic self. Yoga is so much more than exercise - if you're keen to learn about yoga philosophy I highly recommend taking a class with
or enrolling in one of the courses at .

Next time you step on the mat notice how you feel in your body and your mind, and check in at the end of your class and I'm sure you'll notice the magic.

I'm going to be tentatively posting more about yoga philosophy, so watch this space 🙏.

N E W T R E A T M E N T

I've been working on this baby for a little while and I'm so excited to launch it this week.

It's a combo of my loves: mindfulness, massage and reiki.

This is more than a one off treatment, it's designed for regular therapy where we will build a relationship to work through your "stuff" together. You will gain:

S K I L L S | The mindfulness coaching and breath-work is totally transferable to everyday life, you'll learn new skills to add to your growing mental wellness tool box. We will work with mindful invocation to begin to shut down the "monkey mind" while massaging with slow effluerage strokes to start to really tap into total relaxation.

P E A C E O F M I N D | The massage, breath-work and reiki act as deep stimulation for your parasympathetic nervous system, the part of your nervous system which manages all the good stuff that comes from being truly relaxed, to help you cultivate the perfect mental and physical state for healing.

H E A L I N G | by allowing total rest of body and mind your immune system is able to focus on healing & rejuvenation.

R E L E A S E | by building rapport together you are able to offload emotional energy just by knowing you have a safe space dedicated to you and your healing journey. To compliment this reiki helps you release unwanted energies that are not serving you.

I put this treatment together based on what I have found useful over the years struggling with anxiety and depression but this treatment isn't just for individuals with mental health concerns but for absolutely anyone who struggles to relax, switch off or suffers from stress.

The impact of stress on our health is wildly underestimated, just an hour a month where you can totally reset works absolute wonders for your body and your mind.

See you on the table my loves!

Xoxo
