🔹 What to Expect During a Bit & Bridle Fitting with RSO Leather 🔹

Booking a bit or bridle fitting is a valuable step in ensuring your horse is comfortable, and performing at their best whether that's out hacking or competing 😊

Here’s what you can expect during your appointment:

✨ Initial Consultation
We’ll begin by gathering information about you and your horse, including history, current tack, and any issues you’ve noticed. I’ll assess facial and mouth conformation, head shape, and check for signs of nerve sensitivity caused by the current setup.

✨ Discussion of Behavioural Indicators
I’ll ask specific questions to understand if your horse has shown signs of evasion, discomfort, or resistance potentially linked to the bridle or bit.

✨ Ridden Assessment
Your horse will be ridden in their usual tack. This allows you to share feedback and for me to observe their movement, way of going, and any behavioural signs under saddle.

✨ Problem Solving & Planning
We’ll discuss what’s working—and what isn’t. Together, we’ll agree on realistic adjustments or changes to the bit and/or bridle to support your horse’s individual needs and your chosen discipline.

✨ Try New Setup
If changes are made (e.g. new bit, adjusted straps, bridle parts), I’ll ask to see the horse ridden again. I’ll look for improved comfort, relaxation, and freedom of movement, especially around the jaw, poll, face and all along the body.

✨ No Rush
Every horse is different—some respond quickly, others need more time. I take care to go at your horse’s pace.

Getting the right fit for your horse’s bridle and bit is just as important as any other part of your tack. Small adjustments can make a big difference, and I’ll always tailor recommendations to your horse’s individual needs. As an independent fitter, I’m not tied to any brand—your horse’s comfort comes first.

💥As a qualified saddler, I also carry out tack repairs and saddle flocking and small handmade items 💥

🚗 Mileage charges for the first 50 miles for the total trip are free. Locations that are over a 50 mile round trip from LS24 9RF will incur a travel charge of 50p per mile (over the 50 mile radius). Mileage charges can be shared if multiple horses are booked at the same yard.

How lovely is this bespoke hand stitched bridle? ❤️

This gorgeous lady is one of my clients, her mum wanted a new bridle for her but at 18hh ish she’s not off the peg!!

When I qualified as an SMS bridle fitter, I met some fellow saddlers, who make bridles by hand. All the leather is cut to spec and completely hand stitched.
(Something I’m qualified to do but I just don’t have time at the moment)

I recommended Rachel RSO Leather to my client, and at our routine saddle check I got to see her new bespoke bridle ❤️ lovely and traditional with extra long reins! Her mum says she’s much happier in the contact since wearing it 😊

I can’t recommend her enough if anyone is looking for something similar
