Ready to go! Personal Protective Equipment and Infection Prevention Procedures in place. We were told last night that we should get a confirmatory email over the weekend that we will be able to start seeing people who are having eye problems from next week. We are looking forward to seeing you!

Covid 19 crisis
We have been available remotely for all patients who have been experiencing problems with their vision and you can access this service during normal office hours by ringing 07743730129 and our Optometrist will discuss your eye problem and advise accordingly and maybe recommend self-treatments.

The NHS halted all routine and domiciliary appointments in March 2020. Following the Government’s announcement on Sunday of a phased approach to ease lock-down measures in England, we are presently working on a plan for the safe re-starting of services. We are also waiting for the NHS to say that we can see routine patients again. We hope this time will be soon and we will update our website when this occurs.

We are asked to all respect measures that will reduce our day to day contact with other people and to remain 2m away from anyone who does not live with you and that this is vital to reduce the rate of transmission of coronavirus.

We have also been advised that this may last for a matter of months, possibly years rather than weeks.

We are also informed that our job as health professionals (Optometrists) is to ensure that as far as possible people continue to have access to high quality essential and urgent eye care and advice especially the isolated elderly, keyworkers and children whilst, at the same time, keeping ourselves safe

Yet at present PPE is not advised for eye health practitioners working in primary care settings who should only be seeing asymptomatic or COVID-19 negative patients and then rarely face-to-face!

How can you carry out a slit lamp examination on someone and not be face to face?

I cannot understand the mixed messages I am getting here
