What shifts when we widen the frame of therapy?
In February’s Cup of TEA workshop, we turn our attention outward — from the individual in the therapy room to the wider contexts shaping both our clients’ lives and our own.
Drawing on Eco-TA principles we explore a practical question:
How does our work change when we include the wider context in the therapeutic frame?
We’ll unpack key ideas :
🌿 Ecological selfhood — the understanding that identity is shaped not only by family and relationships, but also by place, landscape, climate, and experiences of belonging.
🌿 Eco-scripts — the often unconscious stories we carry about our relationship to the world.
🌿 What “systemic” really means when we extend beyond interpersonal networks into ecosystems.
We'll be considering application — through case reflection, dialogue, and shared exploration:
– Where is the ecological dimension already present in your clinical work?
– How might recognising it shift your ethics, agency, and therapeutic stance?
– What becomes visible when we see clients as embedded in living systems rather than isolated psyches?
Widening the frame of the work you already do — expanding your clinical awareness to include the systems shaping your clients’ lives.
