MIRACLE LIGHT

It took you
so many years
to credit
the miracle light,
though it always
faithfully
made its difficult way
toward you.

It took you so long
to see the way
understanding rises
from the very center
of your own body,
everyday and luminous,
from arriving waves
of what only seems
like the ordinary.

If I had gone onto finish my psychotherapy exams instead of giving them up as well as my practice - for medical reasons, then this quote would have figured in one way or another in my account of my practice:

"The shadow is a living part of the personality and therefore wants to live with it in some form. It cannot be argued out of existence or rationalized into harmlessness." - Carl Gustav Jung

I agree the direction we take in our lives can stand us in good stead carrying us forward into new places!

I closed my practice over two years ago now. I have wondered since if I’d kept on over this COVID pandemic my practice on line sessions, if we’d taken to using such on line resources. Knowing my clients thoughts then and myself more fully now it’s doubtful really. A sentiment echoed and articulated well in this letter from a newspaper today.

After closing my practice earlier this year several people have asked me about the demands of my practice, further exams, presenting and creating workshops and publishing articles - my second published piece published in the last issue of Transactional Analyst was about these very issues.

Today I came across a rather theoretical quote which sums up well the vagaries of the last 10 years of seeing clients, those specifically who continue to surface in my mind. So,

'Working in the transference is emotionally demanding and can precipitate unconscious re-enactments of unresolved attachment conflicts for both patients and therapists. Supervision, personal therapy and mentalization of countertransference reactions are fundamental'

This week I have been closing down my private practice. As part of that process I have put into effect steps to delete my web site as well as this FB Buisness page. Thank you for your interest in my work these past 10 years. I wish you well for your future. Anthony

Loneliness does not come from being alone, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important.
