Great to see that Universities are starting the bullying and dismissal of future midwives feelings early 😭

When their profession is being torn limb from limb in the media….. how can they expect them not to turn to social media for support!

I have connected with wonderful student midwives on here, but in my short time running this platform I have also witnessed many be silenced, or leave their training due to distress or burn out.

this is a scary thing 😞

Pregnancy isn’t always straightforward, and birth doesn’t always mean you take home a baby.

This doesn’t mean you are any less deserving of support, of care.

Neither does it mean you don’t get to make informed choices.

Please know, wherever path your pregnancy takes, I will remain by your side, in your pocket.

Only eight percent.

That is how many women in the study from Brazil knew all their rights in labour and birth.

More than half said at least one right had been ignored.

Women who were younger or had less support were hit the hardest.

The culture and the social landscape in Brazil are very different to the UK.

There is more inequality and less access to good information and support.

But the study still shines a light on something we see here too.

When women do not know their rights they are more likely to feel powerless. When they do not have support they are more likely to be talked over.

Here in the UK the system looks better on paper and many protections are stronger. But the reality is that many women still walk into appointments unsure of what they can choose and what they can decline.

Many still feel pushed. Many still feel unheard.

This research shows the same truth across both countries. Knowledge matters. Support matters. Advocacy matters.

That is where I come in.
Working with me means you understand your rights. You understand what is policy and what is law. You know how to ask questions and how to hold your boundaries. You feel steady and calm and ready to make choices that protect your birth.

If you want informed birth support and a guide who is fully in your corner then my virtual doula packages are open.

Why does everyone disappear the moment you give birth?

We talk about pregnancy support and birth plans and birth teams and then once baby arrives many women feel dropped.

You are sore and tired and unsure and the care can feel short (not always sweet).

You are told to rest but no one shows you how.

You are told to feed on demand but no one sits with you while you learn.

You are checked once or twice and then left to cope.

This is not your fault and it is not how it should be.

Your recovery matters and your feelings matter.

Your fourth trimester should feel held and steady.

My postnatal support gives you calm and care.

I help you understand your body and your baby.

I guide you with feeding and soothing and rest.

I support your partner as well so you feel like a team.

I help you debrief your birth and make sense of what happened.

I bring reassurance when everything feels too much.

You do not have to do this alone and you deserve support that centres you.

Message me to book your postnatal package and step into a gentler fourth trimester.

👀When should you call the midwife? It’s not as simple as “every 3 minutes lasting 1 minute”!

Birth isn’t a stopwatch event. It’s a hormonal process - and your body gives clearer signs than any timer can.

Instead of counting, look at how things feel and look:
💬 You’re becoming quieter or more inward
🚶‍♀️You stop chatting mid-sentence to breathe through a surge
🪞Your movements change - swaying, rocking, grounding
🌊 You might want privacy, darkness, and fewer interruptions
🔥 Your sounds deepen, or you fall silent altogether

These shifts often tell us more than a contraction app ever will.

It’s your labour, and you should always be consulted before anyone decides when to call. You know your body best - the midwife’s role is to listen, not to dictate.

✨Your job is to follow your instincts.
👂Their job is to respect them.
