Garforth and District Walking Group

17 Nov 2025 - Meeting @ 10:00am at Holmfield Park car park Wakefield. This is just off the junction of Denby Dale Road and Thornes Lane. Coming off at the roundabout. We will be walking Rhubarb to Rhubarb a 6 mile walk so it will take just a little longer than usual.
24 Nov 2025 Meeting at 10:00am. @ the Car park at the top of Garforth Cliff outside Winfields Outdoor Equipment shop (Now closed). The walk will be to Ledsham so we will have to Transfer cars. The walk should take under two hours. Please share lifts to make this simple as possible.
1 Dec 2025 - Meeting @ The roundabout at Great Preston for a Mystery walk including some of the Old Railway line meeting at 10:00 am.
8 Dec 2025 - Meeting @ the Miners at the top of Garforth Main Street at 10:00am for a 4.5 mile walk to Garforth Golf Course & back.
15 Dec 2025 Meeting outside Vallentine’s in Allerton Bywater for a walk to Fairburn Ings. This walk will start at 10:00 am and last roughly two hours. About 4.5miles.
22 Dec 2025 Meeting @ Rothwell Sports Centre at 10:00 am for a 4 mile Walk around Oulton Park.
29 Dec 2025 Meeting @ Newton Kyme just outside Tadcaster on the road to Boston Spa at 10:00am for a 4 mile walk to enjoy a riverside walk.

All walks will be muddy after rain so suitable footwear is recommended.

This coming Monday, 10th November, we have our Community Health and Wellbeing Fair in Blackburn Hall with over 25 stalls booked in to give advice, information and guidance on health and wellbeing.

It's not too late to book a free table if you want to be involved, just send an email to Rachelle.taylor@mha.org.uk

There will be refreshments and also free soup and a roll for anyone attending 😊

Garforth and District Walking Group!

20 Oct 2025 - Meeting @ The Maypole in Barwick at 10:00 am for a two hour walk towards Thorner and back.

27 Oct 2025 - Meeting @ The RSPB car park at St. Aidan’s at 10:00 am for a chance to see the nature reserve and have a two-hour walk. There is a charge for Parking of £4.00, so I suggest sharing a lift.

3 Nov 2025 - Meeting @ The Stanley Ferry Inn on the road to Altofts at 10:00 am for roughly two hour walk of about 4.5 miles. A chance to see Stanley Marsh Nature Reserve and much more.

All walks will be muddy after rain so suitable footwear is recommended.

World Mental Health Day 2025
World Mental Health Day takes place every year on 10 October. It’s a reminder of the importance of good mental health and the need to prioritise and invest in good mental health.

This year's theme is 'access to services - mental health in catastrophes and emergencies'. The theme highlights the importance of people being able to protect their mental health in times of global instability.

Important Update:
Changes to Online Appointment Booking
From 13th October 2025, we will no longer be offering bookable doctors appointments through SystmOnline.
Patients are asked to use our PATCHS service to request routine appointments with a doctor.
The following appointments will still be available to book via SystmOnline:
First Contact Practitioners (FCP) – appointments with a physiotherapist for anyone over 18 with musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions. These can be booked on Tuesday afternoons, Thursday (all day), and Friday mornings.
Phlebotomy (Blood Tests) – for tests requested by a clinician only. If a test has not been requested, we will not be able to carry it out.
Cervical Screening – for patients who have received an NHS Cervical Screening invitation.
Please note: if an appointment is booked into an inappropriate slot using SystmOnline, it will be cancelled.

The car park can get extremely busy.

Free parking is available for one hour in the Barley Hill car park.
Additional free parking is also available further up the Main Street.
