Garforth and District Walking Group!

12 Jan 2026 - Meeting @ The Maypole in Barwick at 10:00 am for a two hour walk towards Thorner and back via Scholes.

19 Jan 2026 Meeting Holy Trinity Church car park opposite the church in Rothwell (Church Street) for a walk around the Rhubarb Triangle at 10:00am for a two hour walk.

26 Jan 2026 - Meeting @ The Mansion house Roundhay Park for a walk to Shadwell and back. This walk will start at 10:00 am for an interesting varied walk lasting roughly two hours.

All walks will be muddy after rain so suitable footwear is recommended.

Please book in advance by texting Melvin on 07787 100472, who will answer any queries you have. Further walks will be organised and details distributed to those supplying Email addresses.

Every walk is taken at your own risk. Any leader cannot be held responsible for the safety of others.

After an incredible 27 years at Garforth Medical Practice, we’re wishing the happiest retirement to Vikki, who is officially hanging up her hat after serving as our Project/Facilities Manager.

Vikki’s dedication, knowledge, and behind the scenes magic have shaped this practice in more ways than we can count.
Her commitment over nearly three decades has made a lasting impact on our team and our patients, and she will truly be greatly missed by us all.❤️
We were so glad to give her the gorgeous send off she deserves on Friday.

We are currently experiencing technical difficulties this afternoon across both Garforth and Elmwood Surgeries and are unable to use our systems properly.

We will be booking urgent appointments only.

If you are due to have an appointment today, this will still go ahead where possible; however, there may be delays, so please bear with us.

If you have any queries, please refrain from calling the surgeries as we cannot currently access patient information. If you require urgent medical advice, please contact NHS 111. In the event of a medical emergency, please call 999.

Please be aware the road from Barwick to Garforth is closed this week due to roadworks between the hours of 9am-3pm, if you have an appointment please allow extra time to travel to our surgeries.

17 Nov 2025 - Meeting @ 10:00am at Holmfield Park car park Wakefield. This is just off the junction of Denby Dale Road and Thornes Lane. Coming off at the roundabout. We will be walking Rhubarb to Rhubarb a 6 mile walk so it will take just a little longer than usual.
24 Nov 2025 Meeting at 10:00am. @ the Car park at the top of Garforth Cliff outside Winfields Outdoor Equipment shop (Now closed). The walk will be to Ledsham so we will have to Transfer cars. The walk should take under two hours. Please share lifts to make this simple as possible.
1 Dec 2025 - Meeting @ The roundabout at Great Preston for a Mystery walk including some of the Old Railway line meeting at 10:00 am.
8 Dec 2025 - Meeting @ the Miners at the top of Garforth Main Street at 10:00am for a 4.5 mile walk to Garforth Golf Course & back.
15 Dec 2025 Meeting outside Vallentine’s in Allerton Bywater for a walk to Fairburn Ings. This walk will start at 10:00 am and last roughly two hours. About 4.5miles.
22 Dec 2025 Meeting @ Rothwell Sports Centre at 10:00 am for a 4 mile Walk around Oulton Park.
29 Dec 2025 Meeting @ Newton Kyme just outside Tadcaster on the road to Boston Spa at 10:00am for a 4 mile walk to enjoy a riverside walk.

This coming Monday, 10th November, we have our Community Health and Wellbeing Fair in Blackburn Hall with over 25 stalls booked in to give advice, information and guidance on health and wellbeing.

It's not too late to book a free table if you want to be involved, just send an email to Rachelle.taylor@mha.org.uk

There will be refreshments and also free soup and a roll for anyone attending 😊
