Hiii! I can't believe it is almost a year since I last posted on here! I think I find Autumn so pretty it makes me want to share the prettiness. Also, life is beginning to slow down for the winter and suddenly it feels like there is more time for these kind of things.

Today I went for a walk for self-care purposes. The little one is a little poorly so she and the big one stayed home, watched the Simpsons and napped. I was craving fresh air and trees so took myself for a lovely autumn walk. So many beautiful places in and around Leeds to do that.

Can you tell where I went today, Leeds people? (I think the last pic gives it away!)

I came home feeling refreshed, re-energised and like I could breathe deeper. It is the Lung time of the year in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and a walk, other exercise, Qigong or some breathing meditation are some fab ways to strengthen our Lung function and allow Ki to flow more freely, helping to keep our immune systems strong to stay well this Autumn and Winter 🀍

Be like a tree 🌳 πŸ‚ The trees are letting go, so that they can rest for the winter and come alive with leafy green energy again in Spring.
Be like a tree. Let go of what no longer serves you - whether that be material possessions, unhelpful habits and thought patterns, untrue beliefs about yourself. Let go of trying to control. Let go and breathe deep 🀍

Shiatsu can help you with this transit into Autumn. It can bring a sense of connection, and a space to let go into: to let go of tensions in the body that you didn't realise you were holding, to let go of tensions in the mind also.

Shiatsu can help you to relax deeply, to improve the quality of your breathing, to boost your immune system.

I offer both Shiatsu and Reiki treatments in Chapeltown, not far from the currently gorgeously golden Potternewton park that you see in this photo. Get in touch to book in or find out more 😊

Leeds! We have such beautiful open green spaces on our doorstep πŸ’šπŸŒ³πŸŒ²πŸŒΏβ˜˜οΈπŸƒπŸ’š The last day of the school holidays we were blessed with sunshine and blue skies, so we took to Google maps to pick a place to play and enjoy it to its fullest.

As soon as we got there, I asked myself why on earth I hadn't been to Temple Newsam since I went to v97 (a music festival in... well... 1997! πŸ˜…) So vast and spacious and green and beautiful. And free to wander around and play in the grounds and on the playground with the best view in Leeds I reckon! HIGHLY recommend. Also highly recommend that the next day you don't know what to do, where to take the kids, or just yourself, look on a map and find some green space you haven't visited before, or in a long time. You won't have to go too far, I'm sure πŸ’šπŸ₯°πŸ’š

I'm back. I had a little break there. Literally. I snapped the distal radius bone in my wrist. Which meant all Shiatsu, and Reiki too, as well as bass playing; all of it also went on a break. Life throws us these curveballs. This one really made me stop. It was very frustrating to begin with (and I really don't like cancelling sessions with my lovely clients, nor gigs with my band!) But it forced me to put my wellbeing needs first for a while, and to ask for help (which can be hard!), and also to get on top of some other important things that I had 'filed for later'.

But mostly, it forced me to slow down and allow my body to heal itself. Which the body does VERY well! In fact, it is this self-healing that both Shiatsu and Reiki help with. I am not the healer, you are, your body is. These therapies just help to facilitate. Watching, waiting, feeling a bone heal has been a very tangible way to experience that. 🦴

I am so thankful that I have had Reiki with me the whole way. A tool that I carry in the palm of my hand to use whenever I may need it. It has helped so much during this time. And now I can finally say that I am ready to open clinic and offer Reiki treatments to others once more in our lovely community room at Chapeltown Community Nursery πŸ₯°πŸ₯³

Shiatsu still has to wait a little while until I have a bit more strength in my wrist. It shouldn't be too long, but if this break has taught me anything, it is not to rush πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™

Shiatsu is practical and accessible. Traditionally practised on a futon at floor level, Shiatsu can also be received on a treatment table or chair. Although a professional Shiatsu session will generally take place in a clinic room or client’s home, community or family-based Shiatsu can be shared anywhere – at the kitchen table, in the garden, on the beach.

Hi. Talia here. I thought I would introduce myself for those of you who don't know me yet. I am a Shiatsu Therapist (MRSS), Reiki Master and Qigong Instructor in Leeds, UK.

Shiatsu & Reiki Leeds has its home in the Community Room at Chapeltown Community Nursery, where you can prebook a treatment with me on Mondays and Tuesdays. I also still provide treatments at my York-based practice at , and offer workplace seated shiatsu bookings in the Leeds area, and online guided Self-Shiatsu sessions with you anywhere in the world 🌏

I became interested in Qigong, meditation and Traditional Chinese Medicine in my late teens (over 20 years ago), when I found them helpful in overcoming anxiety and insomnia.

I graduated from with a 3 year Shiatsu diploma in 2013, and have loved it from the moment I found it. I studied Usui Reiki under 3 wonderful teachers, completing my Reiki 1 attunement in 2012, Reiki 2 in 2013 and the Reiki 3 Master attunement in 2015.

As well as my private practice, I have worked with a program offering holistic therapies as a support for people living with chronic conditions, and volunteered providing Shiatsu therapy to asylum seekers in Leeds, and also Shiatsu and Reiki to patients at St. Gemma's Hospice in Leeds. I have taken Shiatsu and Reiki to the other end of the Earth (NZ!) and back again. I go nowhere without them 😊

Spring is the season of the Wood element 🌱🌱🌱Are you feeling raring to go, or do you need a self spring clean to make room for new growth and vitality? Shiatsu can help you with this, as well as the other great advice in this post by Shiatsu Society (UK) and the blog it links to πŸ™‚

WAYS TO TEND TO YOUR INNER WOOD

Suggestions for living in harmony with the spring season

β€’ Begin Your Day Early.
Go for a brisk walk. Feel the sunshine pull you up and out, like the plants and animals.
β€’ Begin New Things - at home, at work, and in yourself.
In this season when nature reinvents itself, we too can see people and situations with new eyes. Be creative. Make things, do things !
β€’ Move. The Liver needs movement and so do you; so get outside and take long walks in nature, observe the changes going on all around you, and invite change in.
β€’ Eat Well. Spring is the time to start a healthier diet and flush out the toxins so that the Liver can do its job more effectively. Enjoy the abundance of fresh foods that are beginning to come to market.
β€’ Practice Forgiveness. Grudges and resentments are indigestible and can do damage to Liver energy. Practice forgiveness.
β€’ Come and have a Shiatsu ! This is a great way to get your Qi moving. Shiatsu is a dynamic from of bodywork which harmonizes and supports your overall energy base as well as addressing particular element imbalances within your body which could be manifesting on a physical and/or emotional level.

By applying sensitive, mindful, static touch with thumbs, fingers and palms, the Shiatsu giver affects the functioning of physical systems such as nervous, circulatory and respiratory, thus supporting the body’s innate self-healing abilities and promoting a sense of relaxation and wellbeing.
