Well deserved recognition for his bravery

This is Nathan Newby. He’s received the George Medal from King Charles in recognition of his bravery.

In 2023, Nathan prevented a bombing at St James’ Hospital by spending two-hours persuading the man who was planning the attack to abandon his plans.

🚨 Group Update – Stanningley 🚨

Just a quick heads-up for everyone who attends our Stanningley group:
There will be no session this Wednesday as the room is having a brand new carpet fitted.

The good news is—you don’t have to miss out! 😊
You’re all very welcome to join us at our Morley or Belle Isle groups instead. We’d love to see you there!

Adam and I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated to our Tommy Sleep Out.

It was a cold but truly memorable night. While the aim wasn’t to enjoy ourselves, but to raise awareness of the challenges faced by homeless veterans, it was hard not to appreciate the time spent with great people—chatting, walking, and taking in the views together.

We’re incredibly grateful for all the support. It genuinely means so much to us to be able to play a small part in helping other veterans. Thank you again ❤️🖤

Fuel consumed,bags loaded.

Tonight you’ll find us sleeping outside at the top of a hill, with sub-zero temperatures on the cards, as we do our part to support the Great Tommy Sleep Out.

Every step up this climb, with heavy backpacks weighing us down, gives us a moment to reflect on the far heavier burden carried by veterans facing homelessness.

Tomorrow morning, we’ll wake up cold, tired, and hungry… but we’ll also know we’re walking back down to warm homes, hot food, and safety.

That’s the difference.

No one who put their life on the line for our country should have to fight this battle alone.

We stand with our brothers and sisters facing homelessness.
No veteran should ever be left behind.

Why not come along to one of our THREE support groups?

We believe in peer-to-peer support, because no one understands the journey better than those who have lived it. Together, we create a space where experiences are shared, friendships are built, and no one has to face things alone.

And it doesn’t stop when the sessions end…
💬 A lively group chat (expect plenty of classic military humour)
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Social events for the whole family
🏃‍♂️ Adventures and challenges to raise money for charity

Come and be part of a community that truly gets it.

📅 Wednesday evenings
📍 Morley Fire Station
📍 Stanningley Fire Station
📍 St John, St Barnabus church in Belle Isle

Curious? Come along and see what we’re all about — you’ll be made very welcome.

As Mother’s Day approaches, we want to wish all the incredible mothers in our community and among our followers a truly wonderful day. 💐

We also want to take a moment to hold space for those who may find this day difficult — those who have lost their mothers, are estranged from them, or who long to become a mother themselves. However tomorrow feels for you, please remember you’re not alone. The sun will always set, and a new day will come. 🌅

Take the time you need to care for yourself. Do whatever helps you get through the day rest, reflect, celebrate, or simply step away. Protecting your mental health isn’t selfish, it’s important. ❤️🖤

In just over a week, some of us will be sleeping out as part of the Great Tommy Sleep Out.

For us, it’s one night in the cold, away from our home comforts. For many veterans across the country, this is their reality not just for a night, but night after night.

No one who has served their country should be left without a safe place to sleep. As a nation, we can and must do better to ensure no veteran is left behind.

If you can, please support, donate, or help spread the word. Every bit of support makes a difference. 🇬🇧

This March, we're taking part in The Great Tommy Sleep Out. Every night, thousands of veterans right here in the UK are facing the harsh reality of sleeping rough. Together, we can change it. We'll be swapping the comfort of our beds for one night, or more, under the stars. No frills. No luxury. Eve...
