📢 Community Notice Boards at Morley Train Station 📢

If you use Morley Train Station, you may have noticed the two community notice boards on the platforms.

As Friends of Morley Station, we’d love to keep these boards updated with information about local community events and activities. If you’re organising something you’d like more people to know about, please get in touch — we’d be happy to arrange to have your poster displayed.

A few things to note:

✅ Posters must be A4 size
✅ Please send them to us a few weeks before the event so we have time to display them
✅ If we receive a high number of requests, we may need to prioritise which posters can be displayed

We’re proud to support local groups and events, so don’t hesitate to contact us if you’d like to share something with the community!

Among our groups are some truly incredible people the ones who notice when someone goes quiet, who offer support when times are tough.

It’s our members who make these groups so special. Friendships built on genuine support are often all you need to make even the darkest days a little more bearable.

We don’t say it enough but we are so grateful to everyone who walks through our doors 🖤❤️

🐣 Hoppy Easter, we hope you have an eggcellant day🐣

Today, we’re wishing you moments of peace, love and a whole load of chocolate wherever you are and however you’re spending the day.

We know days like this can feel different for everyone. If Easter isn’t going how you hoped, that’s okay. Tomorrow is a new day, and brighter moments can still come.

Be kind to yourself. Reach out if you need to. You’re not alone.

And if all else fails… there’s always half-price Easter eggs to look forward to tomorrow 🍫

🏔️🧠 MIND OVER MOUNTAIN 🧠🏔️

EVEREST BASE CAMP IS BACK… BUT THIS TIME IT ENDS ON A 6,000+ METRE SUMMIT. 🔥

❄️ ISLAND PEAK: 6,000+ METRES. FREEZING TEMPERATURES. THIN AIR. GLACIERS. EXPOSED CLIMBING. ONE MENTAL AND PHYSICAL BATTLE. 🧗‍♂️🥶💨

Firstly, we want to say a huge sorry for being so quiet regarding the planned March Everest Base Camp trek. 🙏

Unfortunately, through absolutely no fault of our own, the company we had booked this challenge with cancelled at the very last minute. It was incredibly disappointing and frustrating, especially after so much preparation and excitement behind the scenes. 😞

But if there’s one thing this journey continues to teach us, it’s this:

Sometimes life puts the mountain in front of you before you’re ready…

and you climb it anyway. ⛰️💙

So now…

SEPTEMBER 2026 — WE GO AGAIN. 💥

And this time, the challenge is even more extreme, more demanding, and more meaningful than ever before.

I will now be taking on:

🏔️ EVEREST BASE CAMP
AND
🧗‍♂️ ISLAND PEAK — a 6,000+ metre Himalayan mountain that will push me physically and mentally to my absolute limits.

This is not just a walk in the hills…
This is altitude, thin air, freezing temperatures, exhaustion, fear, pain, steep climbs, lack of oxygen, and a battle with your own mind every single day. 🥶💨💪

And that is exactly why this challenge matters so much.

Because this has never just been about climbing mountains…

🧠 THIS IS ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH.

It’s about resilience.
It’s about carrying pain and purpose at the same time.
It’s about proving that even when life knocks you down, even when plans collapse, even when the path changes…

you keep moving forward.

you keep climbing.

you keep showing up.

And on this journey, something incredibly special will be coming with me once again… 💙

🚩
This flag carries the names of loved ones lost — names that deserve to be remembered, honoured, and carried with pride.

It is a true privilege to take this flag with me on these challenges and carry those names to some of the most incredible places in the world. 🌍🏔️

For me, this is about so much more than a summit.

It’s about making sure these names are seen.
It’s about making sure these lives are remembered.
And it’s about giving families something powerful and meaningful — the chance to see their loved one’s name being carried across the world, into places they may never have imagined. 💙

Every step up that mountain will carry meaning.
Every breath at altitude will carry purpose.
And every name on that flag will be part of this climb. 🙏

🧠⛰️ MIND OVER MOUNTAIN

Because the toughest mountains we ever face are not always made of rock and snow…

Sometimes, they are the ones we carry inside us.

🙌 A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS

I also want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has already stepped in to support this journey. Your backing means more than you know, and without that support, challenges like this simply wouldn’t be possible. 💙

Sponsors will be contacted soon with more information, updates, and what’s coming next as we build towards this huge September challenge. 📩

Your support is helping us turn this into something far bigger than just a trek — it’s helping us create awareness, honour lives, and continue important conversations around mental health. 🧠💙

Well deserved recognition for his bravery

This is Nathan Newby. He’s received the George Medal from King Charles in recognition of his bravery.

In 2023, Nathan prevented a bombing at St James’ Hospital by spending two-hours persuading the man who was planning the attack to abandon his plans.

Adam and I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated to our Tommy Sleep Out.

It was a cold but truly memorable night. While the aim wasn’t to enjoy ourselves, but to raise awareness of the challenges faced by homeless veterans, it was hard not to appreciate the time spent with great people—chatting, walking, and taking in the views together.

We’re incredibly grateful for all the support. It genuinely means so much to us to be able to play a small part in helping other veterans. Thank you again ❤️🖤

Fuel consumed,bags loaded.

Tonight you’ll find us sleeping outside at the top of a hill, with sub-zero temperatures on the cards, as we do our part to support the Great Tommy Sleep Out.

Every step up this climb, with heavy backpacks weighing us down, gives us a moment to reflect on the far heavier burden carried by veterans facing homelessness.

Tomorrow morning, we’ll wake up cold, tired, and hungry… but we’ll also know we’re walking back down to warm homes, hot food, and safety.

That’s the difference.

No one who put their life on the line for our country should have to fight this battle alone.

We stand with our brothers and sisters facing homelessness.
No veteran should ever be left behind.
