Located in Leeds, our vibrant community space 'ARK' serves as a hub where we provide a range of youth empowerment activities. CATCH is a registered charity driven by a team of passionate volunteers dedicated to making a meaningful difference in our community. We proudly operate 'ARK,' a vibrant, multifunctional community space in Harehills, Leeds, where we provide a wide range of activities designed to inspire and empower children and young people from all backgrounds. Our offerings go beyond youth programs. We provide room hire for events, meetings, and workshops, welcoming both individuals and businesses who want to contribute to the community while accessing a versatile space. By choosing ARK, businesses can give back to their community while hosting their events in a setting that supports positive social change. We also offer essential first aid courses, equipping individuals with the skills they need to respond confidently in emergencies. Our educational farm, home to a variety of animals, provides a unique, hands-on learning experience for all ages, connecting people with nature and fostering a sense of responsibility and care. ✨ Celebrating Leadership, Partnership, and Opportunity ✨

Today we had the pleasure of attending the Luminate Education Group CEO Transition Event at Leeds City College — a celebration of the incredible leadership of Colin Booth OBE, who will retire at the end of 2025 after more than 40 years in education and a warm welcome to Bill Jones, who will take on the role of CEO in January 2026.

It was inspiring to reflect on Luminate’s journey — from Leeds City College to one of the UK’s largest education groups — and to discuss the exciting opportunities ahead for young people and our communities.

We were proud to have our two apprentices, James Pearson (Business Administration Apprentice) and Remus Surdu (Farm Apprentice), both current students at Leeds City College, join us at the event. James spoke passionately about his journey and the support he has received throughout his time at college and at CATCH, showing the real impact of collaboration between education and community partners.

We remain committed to working closely with Luminate Education Group to create the best possible chances for young people to learn, grow and achieve their potential.

We wish Colin a happy and healthy retirement and look forward to supporting Bill as he continues to lead with vision and purpose. 🌟

This morning at CATCH, we raised our ‘Lest We Forget’ flag with pride and quiet reflection.

On this Remembrance Day, we pause to honour all those who served and sacrificed for the freedoms we have today. Their courage and selflessness continue to inspire us and it’s important we help the next generation understand the weight and meaning behind today.

In our community, remembrance is not just a moment of silence - it’s a reminder to live with compassion, respect and gratitude every single day.

We remember. We honour. We are grateful.

🎃 What a Night at CATCH! 👻✨

Last night’s Halloween Youth Session was absolutely buzzing! Young people were queuing out the door, full of energy and ready for a spooky good time as part of our week-long Bonfire Period activities.

Huge shoutout to our incredible Team Leaders who jumped straight into action and turned the evening into a fun, creative, and slightly terrifying masterpiece. And a massive thank you to Sami from The Pieces Project, whose makeup skills helped transform our young people into ghosts, ghouls, zombies and everything in between.

The face paint was scarily good — and seeing the young people wandering around the centre in full spooky mode created such an electric atmosphere!

We love nights like these: busy, joyful, safe, and full of creativity.
And remember — we’re open every night this week, with loads more activities lined up.

🎉 Exciting Announcement! 🎉

Starting Saturday 1st November, we’re officially opening the CATCH Educational Farm to the public! 🐐🌿

After receiving our farm licence back in spring, we’ve spent the last few months getting everything ready - our animals settled, our volunteers trained, and our space looking amazing. Now we’re finally ready to welcome you! 💚

🐰 General Farm Visits
Come and explore our farm between 10.30am – 2.30pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
Perfect for families, schools, or anyone who loves animals!
👉 Cost: £1 per adult / 50p per child

🦙 Alpaca & Llama Trekking at CATCH (Ages 11+)
Take part in an unforgettable experience walking our friendly alpacas or llamas around the site — a fun, mindful and educational activity!

🔥🎇 Bonfire Week is here at CATCH! 🎇🔥

We’re kicking off tomorrow (Wednesday) and running every evening until Wednesday 5th November – so get ready for a whole week of fun, friendship, and activities!

🕕 Sessions start at 6pm – come down and join in!

🎮 Everyday Youth Sessions
Enjoy a mix of awesome activities every night including pool, table tennis, gaming, arts & crafts, baking, football or just chill out in our cosy youth café with friends or go for a walk around our farm 🐐🐓🐇🐹.

🌱 This is what empowerment looks like.

Yesterday, a 17-year-old volunteer messaged our farm chat to say:
“All the farm duties are done. Paths brushed, leaves cleared, alpacas and llamas walked, the wellie area sorted, and guests shown around — all with our young volunteers.”

No adult asked them to. No checklist. Just pride, ownership, and teamwork.
We treated them to pizza for lunch — they’d more than earned it 🍕👏

And today, it happened again.
Another message — this time from a 16-year-old leading the way, guiding other young people and adults with confidence and initiative.

This is their space. Their environment.
Led by young people — with responsibility, integrity, teamwork, and communication at the heart of it all.

When you trust young people, you don’t just see jobs getting done —
you see confidence growing, voices being heard, and leadership taking root.

🌿 Self-organised. Passionate. Empowered.
This is CATCH.

Last night was one of our busiest evenings this month at CATCH - and what made it even more special was that every bit of it happened through word of mouth, volunteers and the energy of young people who keep coming back and bringing their friends.

Our reach now stretches far beyond our local area - every week we see new faces from across Leeds, all looking for somewhere safe, welcoming and full of life. Thanks to our incredible team of volunteers, last night alone we hosted: pool and table tennis tournaments, baking and bracelet-making, board games, gaming sessions, cricket, football and even hands-on time with the animals. Let’s not forget the GCSE revision sessions and the meaningful conversations happening in every corner.

Everything you see here - every smile, every shared moment, every act of kindness - is what youth work looks like in action.

This week, The Guardian reminded the nation how youth clubs have been disappearing across the country - victims of years of funding cuts and neglect. Yet the truth is, youth spaces like CATCH aren’t luxuries; they’re essential. They’re where friendships form, confidence grows and where young people learn trust, teamwork, and responsibility. They help tackle loneliness, give young people a voice and bring communities together - no matter background or postcode.

And behind the games and laughter, something even more powerful is happening. This week alone, we’ve supported young people through real-life challenges - theft, school exclusion, poor choices, dishonesty, struggles with mental health and low school attendance. Because of the trust built here, those tough conversations can happen naturally - in a safe space, surrounded by people who care.

This is what early intervention looks like. It’s where vulnerabilities are reduced before they grow and protective factors - relationships, purpose, belonging - are strengthened. It’s where we work closely with schools, colleges and local services to help young people get back on track and see their own potential.

So when we see our spaces full, our volunteers stepping up and our young people thriving - we’re reminded of why this matters so deeply. We’re not just keeping a youth club open; we’re building community, hope and connection at a time the country needs it most.

💚 To every volunteer, young person and supporter - thank you. You’re proving that when people come together, incredible things happen.
