It might be tempting, or you may even think a massage will help when you're feeling ill, but here are a few reasons why you shouldn't get a massage

- can overstimulate an already overstimulated immune system
- exacerbate symptoms of dizziness and congestion
- can make you feel drained or exhausted
- risk of spreading a  contagious bug

It's best to reschedule your massage as soon as possible, even at the hint of cold & flu symptoms

How long should you wait
- no fever in the last 24-48 hours
- normal energy levels
- no longer experiencing severe congestion, nausea, or flu-like symptoms
- no longer contagious.

Some therapists may be ashamed to admit it but sometimes we don’t always know what’s going on with your issue right away. As a Sport & Exercise Therapist I will of course listen to your medical history, run through a postural & functional assessment as well as perform all necessary special tests, but sometimes this may lead to conflicting results that can absolutely baffle us. There may be more than one issue going on, you could have 2 very similarly presenting issues that have different ways to be rehabilitated. Sometimes an issue may not present a solution until we get stuck in with some manual therapy, in some cases we may not know if our theory was correct until you get off the table at the end and give us some feedback. The fact of the matter is we are not human MRI machines and we only hypothesise (best educational guess) at your injuries, and we don’t want to jump the gun and tell you that your injury is one thing, then change our minds halfway through and tell you another. This only causes confusion so if your therapist tells you that they’re ’still working it out’ just trust the process as they are doing everything they can to allow you to leave the session with the correct information.

This face massage focuses on relaxation and lymphatic drainage 

The treatment begins with a cleansing lotion over the face and neck to prep the skin for treatment. Hands-on techniques and tools are used to encourage lymphatic flow and drainage.

The tools used;

Gua Sha Tool (pronounced "gwa shaw")  

Gua Sha is a  Traditional Chinese Medicine technique that has been practised for centuries. This technique uses a smooth jade or bone tool to scrape along the skin to help reduce stagnation. In the Lymphatic Drainage Massage, we use the tool to gently glide along the face and neck to help encourage the movement of lymph.

Ice Globes

Cooled glass or stainless steel globe tools are used to help reduce redness, puffiness, and increase the blood flow through the face.
