I wasn’t expecting to write this post so soon but it’s my last day of working for Velocity Academy. It’s the first job I’ve really enjoyed and I’m sad to be going. I’ll miss chatting with my learners, seeing them progress through their qualifications and working with the staff. Loved every minute of it….well, up til now lol. Redundancy is tough and this is only the beginning but let’s see what job I land in next.

Today was my second day in the gym training this week. I’m trying to make it three but two is better than none.

Today was a push day. The dumbbells pictured was my 4th set on lateral raises doing a drop set of 8 x 7kg, 10 x 6kg then 12 x 5kg. I usually play it safe and stick to a superset and use 5kg. My PT is pushing me so i am now testing what I can do and writing down what I did so I can progress it for next time. Im using Everfit with my PT .fitness which I’m hoping will give me more accountability and get me back into a routine again.

It has been hard since the pandemic to get out of this rut, I know I’m not the only one who has felt this way. Let’s see how I get on 💪

I got my first review from a learner I helped support through his Level 3 PT diploma since October last year.

💻English isn’t his first language so we’d organise zooms to go over the coursework so I could bring his work up on screen to go over the areas. Being able to show it on screen I think also visually helped him understand it a bit more as well as talking him through it.

❓Giving him questions like, who his ideal client might be, and how he sees his business moving forward as a PT. Talking about their backgrounds and how they can apply knowledge they have already into it.

🤝Also building a rapport with my learners helps too.

Hopefully this is the first of many happy qualified learners 👍

That’s it for now. I massaged for the last time in the gym last night, and took all my stuff out tonight. Looks a lot bigger space without all my stuff in it.

Now to find space to put it at home 🙈

Goodbye and thanks for the last two years 👋 lll be at the gym still but training myself and focusing on my health and fitness.

I’ll still be posting information on here, hopefully helpful stuff ☺️ I’ll be teaching it instead of treating. I’m also still involved with the Sports Therapy Association, I’ll be at coffee chats and probably Therapy Expo too. I’ll still be around if you want to message me about anything.

Hopefully this is not forever, just for now. We’ll see what the future brings.

I have decided to take a step back from my business. My last day will be the 10th March, but really the 9th as I’ll be moving all my stuff out at the gym by the 10th.

I’ve come to realise I’m not able to give my business the amount of time and effort it needs to make it work efficiently. I also feel I’m not running the business the way I’d want it to be run.

As it has started to take its toll on my health and well-being I need to focus on myself, my training, my health, and my job as a Tutor, which I’m enjoying but it is using up all my brain power at the moment. Maybe in 6 months time I’ll be able to re-assess this and re start my business.

For now I’ll be focussing on getting me back on track.

I’ll still be around hopefully training more at the gym, and I’ll be teaching massage instead of treating.

I’ll also be able to post more on here like I did at the middle of last year. Look to do some more informative posts for you all.

I will say it’s not forever but just for now.

Thank you all for your support over the past 4 years ☺️

Think SMART

I don’t mean in the form of wearing a suit ☺️

This is to help with setting goals.

If you are one of many who usually set goals for the new year, think about making them SMART, you’ll be more likely to keep to them this way.

Make sure the goals are:

✏️Specific - Be clear and specific so your goals are easier to achieve. This also helps you know how and where to get started.

✏️Measurable - Measurable goals can be tracked, allowing you to see your progress. They also tell you when a goal is complete.

✏️Actionable - Are you able to take action to achieve your goal? Actionable goals ensure the steps to get there are within your control.

✏️Realistic - Avoid overwhelm and unnecessary stress and frustration by making the goal realistic.

✏️Timebound - A date helps us stay focussed and motivated, inspiring us and providing something to work towards.

Some of you may have seen this used in your workplace, it is also used in personal training to help achieve goals for clients. It can also be used in your own personal life.

Instead of saying ‘I want to lose weight’ for example. Give a reason why, give a time frame and realistic weight loss goal over a reasonable period of time.

On average a realistic goal is to lose 1lb-2lbs of weight a week. It is more likely to stay off when lost at a slower gradual rate than a drastic loss in the short term.

Remember think SMART and you’ll get there. Remember to make them enjoyable too as you’ll have more motivation to do it. Also to write them down and have them somewhere visible, so you can keep checking in to see how you’re doing.

Happy New Year everyone 🥳

I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who’s supported me this year, including new and past clients, and other Sports Massage Therapists, Soft Tissue Therapists, and Sports Therapist friends I’ve made the past few years.

It’s been a year of ups and downs, but let’s keep going and let’s see where 2023 takes us.

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and get to spend it with loved ones, and a Happy New Year 🥳

I’ll see you on the flip side

Some good tips here from park run on how to prepare for a run in the cold weather 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻🏃🏻‍♂️

There may be moments during the winter months when you’re standing at your local parkrun in the cold and rain, questioning why you decided to get out of your warm bed! But winter parkrunning isn’t just for those hardy souls – anyone can walk, jog, run and volunteer in deepest darkest Decemb....

🚨Opening times for the gym over the Christmas period 🚨
As I’ll be off work at my full time job the Christmas week (27th-30th Dec), I will have availability through the day instead of my evening hours. DM if interested in booking an appointment this week, as it’s out of my usual hours you won’t be able to book on my booking system 👍

Love this Christmas advert from a year or two ago. Always makes me tear up. Has a good message behind it too 🥹❤️
