I often hear people in therapy talking about how frustrating it is when they talk to the people around them about what’s troubling them. It’s like a light bulb goes on when I say ‘you just want to tell them without them trying to fix it?’ ‘YES!!’ they say.

When we jump straight to trying to fix someone’s problems not only does it suggest we don’t really want to hear about their suffering but it also disempowers them from finding their own solutions, which we’re all perfectly capable of with the right kind of support ❤️
